[FARE GONE] AA: Crazy cheap MIA-Tokyo (basic Y)....$90 one-way
Looks like in recent days UA and AA went head-to-head. Seeing $90 one-ways on AA in basic economy on several dates in Oct/Nov (including Thanksgiving week). Here's one such example with a great (short) connection in DFW and 777s on both legs.

"Reservations books it as a new reservation with the last name of the customer and EXST as the first name. Our team also adds a SEAT ticket designator to the EXST ticket which exempts the taxes. The airport will then be able to see the name of the passenger + the extra seat during the boarding process."
So lieflat for under 250? the taxes on seat2/3 are exempt...

I don't see such pricing for UA. AA is a bit higher on the dates that I have looked at.

This one way fare appears to be AA only.

I think EmoryFlyer was referring to the previous fare wars from AA hubs which UA matched: AA: $250 RT to Tokyo ex PIT/DAY/STL/MIA/FLL [Oct to Mar Travel Period]
This one way fare appears to be AA only.

Yea, I agree with you. It's already May and based on everything that I'm seeing, I doubt Japan will open up before the end of this year. I think we'll be lucky if Japan opens up in Q1 2022. I booked a trip to Japan in spring 2020 that had to be cancelled. Unfortunately...

And who knows how travel will be like after COVID. I would hate to wear a mask even after being fully vaccinated. The Japanese people seem to be rule and law abiding overall so I'm kind of hoping that the vast majority will be vaccinated. Then I can go there and just enjoy the country without a mask. Again, I'm crossing my fingers that will be the case.
