I bought this with destination Cairo, so I could switch to any place in Africa. I just tried to book this through live-chat:

PVG - CMN
DSS - HND

Now the agent tells me I have to end in the same country (not city!!) as where I started.

The agent said me that for example start in PVG and end in CAN is possible. . Is this correct? I see a different experience above. Starting BKK and ending HND.

I think I now understand what happend. China became a seperate region. I'm not sure if it was allready in covid time. That makes it unbookable (now) for the agents.

Thank you OP. I've had first part of my trip from HND - DXB (gamechanger) towards Africa (A380) and it was great. Emirates gave me a night at Le Meridien as a bonus (god knows why, it wasn't the shortest connection) so I could enjoy both flights to the max. Champagne Don Perignon 2013....great taste.... cognac Henessy Paradis of 1k> a bottle....does the high price make it taste better? It was good! Great crew on the HND-DXB flight, some delicous food, tried caviar, great amenities. A nice lunch and delicious dining at the hotel....upgrade to Le Royal Club (standard?). The driver in a BMW 7. A once in a lifetime experience for sure for €2.200! Thank you very much! And I'm only halfway. What a treat.

If I would pay for first class. As Emirates I would worry about the huge difference between the gamechanger and the older product. And the standard at the airport is really not living up to even Business Class at Etihad when you use Dubai Connect. The staff on the ground is poor both at the check-in as the Dubai Connect. And the waiting room next to the drivers is sooo poor. Etihad is doing that way better with the seperate arriving lounge and both the entrance when you're flying business class there. That's something they really need to look into.
