Looked at booking 1 week but the visa cost is $150 so it is better to make it worth while. Plus if things dont work out, then there is Ghana just next door. I take it will be a swell time.

I also did 2 weeks in Sudan thanks to FT and the trip was great!

If you are in to off the beaten path destinations, put Comoros on your list.....

I could not find any good fares (similar to the OUA fare) at the moment. Will keep an eye on it and FT too.

Also for those who love offbeat: Algeria is, by far, my favorite secret destination. Stunning, stunning, stunning. Desert Oases, several Unesco World Hertiage sites, several beautiful unique Roman Ruins, super friendly people, wow. And there hasn't been an English Algeria travel guide written for more than 15 years.

I agree Algeria is a great destination. But the visa ($160 valid for 2 years) requirements and constant registering with Police in every location you visit gets annoying after a while. The police escort you get everywhere sounds nice but a waste of gasoline. IMO Tunisia provides a competitive offer with no visa nor police registration anywhere. You can drive everywhere yourself and also good public transportation (Louages are fantastic value for money)
