Guess I’ll take a refund for my Sep ticket that lands in CAN. Too much uncertainty and lack of flexibility with work too.
How long are the refunds taking to come through?
(I booked via Expedia but I doubt that makes a difference)

Rebooked for Easter. (MXP-HKG)
I couldn't find a telephone number on the website so I called AY's ticketing desk at Heathrow. This was answered pretty much immediately.
Tried again to move the start point from MIL to LON. She called her supervisor but they said no.

Is the morale superlow at Finnair these days? I called their customer support # in Finland (English). The first call nobody answered, the second call someone hung up on me, and finally someone answered the third call. after helping me with my new itinerary for 20 minutes they hung up again ....

Wow, seems like I was really unlucky now. I have a canceled flight to CAN tomorrow and the Finnair chat agent just told me the latest they can rebook for is February because they can't extend the validity of the ticket.
Going to try again tomorrow. Hope they'll have a more competent agent available then...

They simply don't have any flights to CAN scheduled yet for next year, so they have no dates to rebook to. They refuse to change the destination to HKG or anything else.
They only offer a change of destination for PEK, which they would rebook to HKG or NKG. But for CAN, all we can get no is a refund. That was straight from HQ, according to the agent.
Guess I am entitled to a rerouting to CAN under EU261, but obviously, that wouldn't be any use now. I would much rather fly to HKG next year...

Hang up and try again! or use webchat. I've been able to change my HKG flights a couple of times. Last time I spoke to them they were able to change it as late 31 May 2021. They even asked me if I wanted to change the origin (to a different city in the same country).

Yes, I usually rebooked via chat. But as mentioned, when I tried via chat yesterday, they only offered to rebook no later than February, and today the chat was overloaded.
But I just tried again via chat and got the ticket rebooked for September 2021 - maybe there was just a misunderstanding with the phone agent.
Then the agent asked if I had any other questions, I said yes, I have another booking I'd like to rebook, and then the agent just wished me a nice day and closed the chat... Really wonder what's going on over there.
But maybe one of you guys can help with this: I have another CAN booking for May, which was canceled.
Ideally, I would like to keep this open and rebook it closer to the original departure, when we know a bit more about what travel will look like next year, and when the rebooking window may have been extended again. I don't want to just blindly push all my bookings into September next year or something.
But I don't know if there will be any issue, such as:
- ticket validity (not possible to reissue since it's over 1 year since the original booking was made)
- CAN permanently canceled, AY refusing to rebook for any other destination
- Expedia seeing that no CAN flights are available in the foreseeable future, issuing the refund process automatically
What would you do about my second booking? Would you wait a couple months or just rebook for some random date next year?

Today I chatted with FinnAir about my flight to HKG at the beginning of November. They first told me that I could rebook until September 2021 without any fee. Later they told me that the flights will not take place, but are not yet officially canceled, so I have to wait (or I have to pay the tariff difference). I asked if I can change my booking because entry to HKG is not allowed, but that is not possible until 36 hours before departure.
