May I ask for those who have reticketed to R, were you able to talk to agent and ask them ticket back to I ?

You booked I, and miles accumulation are different. I think you have the rights to ask.

Data point: changed a cancelled STR-CAN to a DUS-HKG through chat today, by gently asking. Booked through an OTA. No questions asked.

Fellow member terryversay applied for a refund a day after I did in late March and received his refund on Tuesday. I'm still waiting, and I'll report back after it posts.

So, I rebooked the dates for my CAN trip to later this year, but it doesn't really look like China is accepting any visa requests given the situation...

Is Finnair showing any sympathy in this case?

I was able to change from CAN to HKG after some HUACA via chat. I already changed my destination end of march 2020, so maybe they have now some stronger rules.

I was just discussing with my +1 for the new trip in November. We try to do one of these trips each year. For fun and nice to earn some points, instead of burning them. However I keep reading an awful lot of downgrading of service, we have to were masks on the flight. 10 hours on a flight with 1 hot meal, no drinks and wearing a mask, just might take the fun out of this trip for us.

Just wondering if others might have thought to cancel, because of this reason.

Did you check your calendar? November is half a year out. A lot can change during that time.

Why always so snarky ChocolateFactory? Yes, I know it's November. Although there is a lot of speculation, almost everybody agrees that Covid-19 isn't going anywhere soon, so I would say my question is some what relevant. I'm just posing a question here for open debate.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be snarky. But I don't think anyone has announced anything about service downgrades for November. I don't think the airlines have even planned much further than July at best.
Canceling now because of service limitations that have been announced for July simply doesn't make a lot of sense if you ask me.

If you're fed up with rebooking and all the hassle that comes with it and just want to get a refund and not travel again before 2021, I completely I understand that. Sure, try to get a refund.
But because you're worried that they'll only offer packaged snacks and no proper F&B on board? On a flight that's half a year out? Come on...

Looks like no longer flying to CAN

Given this news, think there will be an option to change to HKG? I'd rather it than PVG or PEK

I think its certainly possible, best asking on the webchat, I've found they are way more helpful than the call centre.

It was presented as a fait accompli to me. I was hoping to be rebooked in D, but I forgot to change the sales city in EF and I guess availability was different to what I expected.

If necessary I will try to claim original routing credit.

I didn't even use EF, just narrowed down which dates/flights to PVG only had availability in D..
