Big thanks to OP and all who posted valuable tips early in this thread! I booked less than an hour ago and ticketing went smoothly.

I booked last night BLQ-HKG on Finnair for 508 euros. Have been trying awhile now to book STR-CAN for various dates but even though I see it for about the same price I can't get that price on Finnair or expedia. Anyone still getting it or is it gone now?

There is a ticketing restriction that required the ticketing to be complete on/before 27OCT. Depending on the timezone at your point of sale it may be already the 28th.

Anyone tried changing the POS to USA to fit the ticketing deadline or does that not work?

I am surprised by how limited number of seats I can choose from even the shorter flight BLQ-HEL. I guess a considerable amounts of tickets were sold in this flash sale.

Hope it sticks.

My take is that the seats were from the "I class" bucket, therefore only a few seats on each flight were allocated to "I class". It would not be possible to book out the front of the cabin with this flash sale fare.

I mean the actual seat. Not the ticket. Sorry for being ambiguous.

In some flights all windows seats were chosen. That can’t be nothing to do with this flash sale, for a flight like BLQ-HEL in May. Right?

Luckily my Flugladen booking was ticketed at 22:39 last night. Could select seats now. Seats to CAN were widely available! Going in June.

Congratulations to anyone who booked and made it work on the Finnair website directly. After 2 hours of searching (and complaining from my partner) I had to stop

Finnair regionals usually designate the front 2 rows as "business" (i.e. 4 seats). It's unrelated to the sale.

One of mine (can’t remember which but definitely short haul) had J as far back as the overwing exits 😂

For the BLQ-HEL-BLQ flights, it appears the first 11+ rows are designated business. All the way back past the exit rows.

So now the waiting begins...

Errr, no. They do the same as other European carriers and shift the curtain depending on demand.
