I don't think you will need a visa if you are transferring to another flight.

So I’m looking at 15/4 - 5/5 BLQ-HKG, but can’t seem to make it work ok finnairs site despite GF saying it’s available at that price.

It has long layovers either way (26h outbound, 15h inbound), so I selected ‘add 1 day stopover’ each way (as they both go overnight too) - but still prices at €1800+??

is 2313 in HEL, not sure I can get this ticketed in time!

massively flexible on dates if anyone has any thoughts

Look on Google for march. Do str-can and look for Tuesday departures. Should then link to expedia.de. there will be 26 HR in hel both ways

Try Wednesdays and Saturdays for Bologna and Tuesdays for Stuttgart. Filter on google flights and then book using Finnair’s “stopover” function. If one Tu/We/Sa doesn’t work, go to the next week. good luck!

yeah it’s giving me crates of availability on GF with that but reprices to €1500-3000 when I click through

You won't find any w/o stopovers anymore because they are gone.
I recommend using ITA with minconnect 1440 faring option and then overview for 6-9 nights of stay. Then use Priceline link from Powertools to confirm availability. Once you find a working one you can safely go to Finnair website and just use Stopover booking tool. Well, that's how I did it. I guess you could book on Priceline as well.

To make this deal work, you'll have to be able to fly out of BLQ on Wedn or Sat outbound, if you do what dimitriyremerov said, you can dictate the return trip with your desire date out of HKG or CAN, I'm sure many are looking at ditching the last HEL-BLQ segment, so set MINCONNECT 25:00 and the HEL-BLQ segment will be on either Wed and Sat.

I just found what dates are available on ITASOFTWARE. So now we have another 1:30 left until Oct 28th in Italy.

clicked via google flights, maybe change 'country' at bottom of page to 'germany'. and click to show more options so you see expedia.

I give up....

Have gone through booking a dozen times, all different dates. on both expedia or gotogate, proceeds all the way to payment screen and then either "Sorry your flight is fully booked" or "Could not price ticket". Finnair stopver tool only says "Sorry no flights available". This one seems to be dead and gone. Second time this week I just miss out

Congrats to those who managed to grab some.

Well, mine appears to have ticketed. Will give it a couple more days before I book any other flights or start getting excited

New year’s resolution will be “gotta stop making all my holiday plans based around flash sales”
