I think repercussions are very unlikely in general.
In this specific case, with a ticket sold in Italy (I purchased from Italian swiss.com), it seems perfectly safe.

Sorry - newbie question, let me know if it should be elsewhere. I want to book two companion tickets that goes FCO - ZRH - SIN in both directions. On the return, there’s an 8 hour layover in ZRH. I actually live in Madrid - assuming that we haven’t booked luggage through, are there any repercussions for not getting on the last leg from ZRH - FCO? I’d imagine I could just grab a flight from ZRH to Madrid easily that day. Thanks!
