I actually had one of these ticketed when the sale was first posted, but canceled it to book another routing which had two seats available.

Oh well. Win some you lose some. Congrats to all who got this confirmed

What’s the benefit or downside in such situations for getting a OneWorld as opposed to another alliance flight to fill in the “ground “ segment? Would IB/AA interline a separate OneWorld ticket if you bought it and protect the connection?

AA will protect you if you’re connecting from a OneWorld flight to an AA flight. But getting them to do this can sometimes be a pain - and probably a big pain at an outstation.

BA/IB will not protect you.

I'm considering doing the 15k upgrade for LAX-JFK. Would have been awesome value if I could have done a 25k upgrade for J to F on LAX-JFK-MAD/LHR

I had booked this trip for late December, it was "on request" for the last 23 hrs and suddenly the trip is removed from My Trips on aa.com, and I haven't received any email about it at all.

FWIW:

AA will NOT interline to another OW partner on a separate ticket.
AA WILL protect you if you are on separate tickets, as long as the other ticket is with a OW partner.

Yup mine were canceled and removed from my AA account earlier as well. Didn't receive an email from AA either.

I still have 7 reservations showing confirmed, tickets are still open. I'm curious if they're actually canceling them, or if it's just ones where CMN-MAD came back as "NO" from Iberia and AA canceled those before ticketing?
