ok finally I cannot hold it anymore, will be flying as the 2nd person on the wiki. Will have to book positioning flights now, whatever happens happens if anything goes sideways then. Hope it works out for all of us!

Simply prepare Plan B: a few days exploring Barcelona! So whatever the outcome, you'll have a nice holiday.

You will be fine, nothing is going to happen to these bookings anymore. AZ is well aware and probably not too many ticket have been sold, so they accepted that little loss.

I think (hope) so too
Perhaps a lot of people didn't jump on it because of the way AZ dealt the last special fare

it is just I have business in TPE the next few days after my flights on AZ, so if they denied me boarding I will just have a few days in MAD, which is not too bad, but I miss out on some time that could have been spent in TPE.

That is something you were well aware of when you booked this special fare and it's also the risk.

AFAIK all tickets start in BCN or MAD - so as long as you don't live in BCN/MAD you need to get home anyways after flying the ticket. Book your positioning flights XXX-BCN/MAD-XXX, and if the Alitalia ticket falls flat you make the best of it and spend some days in BCN/MAD.

But for some of us home might be on the other side of the Atlantic!

... but this doesn‘t change the need for positioning to and from your home, does it? Unless someone intended to fly only the outbound, which doesn‘t really make sense as this special sale was only marginally less than half a regular sale ticket C2-C1.

it will be avios/ryanair/easyjet to the rescue for me if it all goes to pot.

It better stick as i’m going to be booking internal flights for the US soon!

Any recommendations for a nice hotel close to BCN airport for an overnight?

I planned it as two weekend round-trips, two weeks apart.

So if I get stuck in BCN, I'd be there for two weeks longer than planned.
