I’m likely one of the later people to go, so I’m waiting for the first people to fly before doing anything.

I am personally little skeptical but nevertheless, i have booked my position flight to BCN.
I'll be one of the first ones to fly (mid March) and personally I think we have nothing to worry about, I think CX828 is someone who's just trying to get us worried for nothing, if AZ would've wanted to cancel, I reckon they would've already done a few weeks ago, will book positioning flights next week, ticket is still "okay to fly" on Saudia website...

Same here my outgoing positioning flight is booked, hotels are expensive indeed in LA.
By the way which airline are you using for your positioning flight and if you don't mind telling which country are you flying out from? (I am just curious)

Is anyone flying out of BCN (on the way back) in the evening - i believe there’s a flight that lands there about 3? Just wondering what options there are.

Thanks for the update. In all fairness, I don't understand what's going on, for the reasons I mentioned a few days ago:
- they only called you (that we know of) during the entire week,
- they didn't even have a final decision for you,
- and they didn't follow up in a timely manner (following a deadline that they set themselves).
The only thing that could vaguely make sense in my mind is that they believe/know they have to honor it, but just don't want to acknowledge it.

I’ll wait until Monday, considering that the first call came on a Sunday.

TAP Portugal is the airline that i'm using.
I'm from Madeira Island in Portugal (well.. it's my nickname haha).
Making FNC OPO (champions league overnight stay) .. then OPO BCN.

So out of all people here that booked this fare, only 1 person claims AZ has contact him. I am not sure how credible that is. Why on earth would he be the only one contacted? Not saying its impposible and not true, but very strange for sure. Besides that if it would have been the case most likely AZ would have cancelled or downgraded first, and then contact person to avoid these discussions.

It is little unusual indeed, but I think we can maybe be sure by this point that these tickets are honored?!
I must say that when I try to select my seat on AZ website there is an error message popping up saying '' Sorry, it was not possible to proceed with your request, we apologize for the inconvenience; if you want, please contact us for further information''
Any thoughts?
