I’ve never had a situation where I’ve arrived at the check in desk with an itinerary clearly stating J class and being told I was being reseated in Y. Sure, I guess there’s a first time for everything. But personally I think this is the most unlikely outcome, especially for those that book direct with the operating airline and allocated seats in the business class cabin.

As I mentioned in a previous post I think it’s those that booked via other airlines/OTA’s that are likely to have the slightly more uphill battle.

As many have said previously it’s best to wait until the first buyers have flown this fare and fed back. That’s if AZ doesn’t cancel before. But my feeling is - they knew of the mistake within hours and have done nothing so I’m quietly confident. In almost every case where my flash sale has not been honoured I’ve been notified within days, a week max. It doesn’t guarantee anything but Alitalia would just be making things more difficult for itself with each passing day it doesn’t actvif it’s to cancel.
You are perfectly right! That happened only in Air France First Class "sale" from IST to JNB and GRU, but that was because people, who booked (even a friend of mine) that fare, flew it just in days. All of us, who had flights in next months, we received a full refund. So did AZ in case they cancelled J fares... No worries, we will fly business ;-)

CX828, it has now been more than 48 hours, did they end up contacting you?

Agree, but then again: would you like to jeopardise your booking just because you want to select seats months in advance? I'd say until anyone really flew this fare, please refrain from getting your itin on their radar.

Things run slower in Italy and it would not surprise me if AZ is still rethinking the options. According to EC 261/2004 only if a confirmed trip is cancelled within 14 days of flying, the airline has to pay a compensation for 'denied boarding'. As the first person flies in May (as it seems), I don't see why AZ would hurry with cancelling.

I am fairly sure there will be people dying in March, April & February, but I hope no one who booked this fare

Personally I'll be flying in the middle of March.

Are you the Alitalia intern? Maybe it's the keyboard that keeps changing the fares ;-)

I'd already asked IT to change it but they love watching me dealing with angry customers 🤣
