On the fence about cancelling. The Amextravel portal is pretty specific that you can cancel within 24 hours. But we all seem to regard that as the end of the next business day.

Is that written anywhere? Is that even right? I'm not sure that I've ever canceled with Amextravel after 24 hours.

A joint venture may make a difference. With a joint venture you are not only losing your airline revenue, you are losing your joint venture partners revenue too. I doubt United will be onboard with financing NZ's blunder.

If you booked via Expedia, it should be all the same, end of Friday PST

Does anyone know about costs relating to positioning flights? I know if I book non-refundable hotels on this fare and AirNZ does cancel the ticket it is up to them to 'make you whole'. Does this apply to non-refundable positioning flights as well?

It seems some people are getting tickets cancelled and others not? My ticket, booked via expedia.ca yesterday at 10amEST, is still valid. Given the track record of the airline taking two weeks to cancel last time, is it safe to say not to make any supporting bookings (hotels...) for a few weeks?

I wouldn't personally be making any bookings until someone has at least flown on the ticket. It's also less than 24 hours since the fare went live so unless you're travelling tomorrow, there is no rush. Patience is key.

I have keep reading the rules but I'm not clear. I think we have no reprice if the booking class exist on other dates, right?

I have one on hold, all NZ metal and still holding. So planning if I need to move and goingh my reading of accurate that no reprice needed.

NZ's margins must be rather thin (or negative) for them to cancel their own mistake fares so aggressively. Especially in contrast to CX's grandiose gesture this past week.

I find it quite interesting that an airline - out of an error - can just cancel a ticket (full refund, no flight), but a passenger - out of an error - cannot do that (no refund, no flight). Seems like to be different rules for different parties.

How did you manage to hold the itinerary? I’m not aware of any OTA that would allow you to do that?
To change dates, you would only pay the change fee for the return portion. But if you want to change the outbound, it would reprice and the current fares would apply, as if you were buying a new ticket.

EDIT: I stand corrected. There’s no provision to not change the first date component in the fare rules, so in theory a date change should bepossible for just the change fee. In practice...
