For each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed:
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (choose one, and state the value):
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay:

Route(s) You've Already Searched:
Do you have a Chinese Visa (Yes/No)?
For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A NEW THREAD.
There are many good fares to China (PEK or PVG). If you have a Chinese visa, these options will be provided. Otherwise, you may have to take advantage of TWOV (visa on arrival). Its information can be found: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china/708095-china-24-72-144-hour-transit-without-visa-twov-rules-master-thread.html

If your requested PQM is in a few thousand, please give a more accurate amount. You will get fewer options with a roundup number (eg, 5000 instead of 4830; IAD-SFO nonstop will work for the latter.)

Reach 1K by end of 2019

Departure Airport: SFO
Miles Needed: 10,211
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (choose one, and state the value): No required spend needed. Looking for cheapest flight possible (ideally with W or higher fare to apply GPU)
Available Travel Dates: Dec 6 - 8, Dec 13 - 15, Dec 19 - 23 (preferred)
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay: Codeshare okay, but United Metal preferred. GPU applicable fare class preferred

Route(s) You've Already Searched: SFO-HKG, SFO-SIN
Do you have a Chinese Visa (Yes/No)? - Yes

Hi, first FlyerTalk post. In danger of losing my 1K status and trying to find the least expensive flight that will get me the 10,211 PQMs needed. I've already hit the PQD limit. The cheapest flight is the priority, but hoping for W fare class or higher to use my GPUs, if possible. Hoping for w a quick turnaround on the weekend or open to doing a multi-day stay (mini vacation) from Dec 19 - 23. Thanks!

Wow, SFO is tough. The best price I see is around $730 for either SFO-LHR or SFO-BCN on the weekend of Dec 6, with an overnight at the destination. Both K-fare, but LHR should allow PE using GPU (or 20 points after Dec 4), and has less segments so is likely preferable.

I can't find anything within reason for your preferred dates. Does anyone else have any good ideas?

UPDATE: Somehow I missed this is possible (without overnight):

UA:$660 SFO-HKG 13828PQM (K-fare)
Fri 06 Dec SFO-HKG
(16h35m daytime in HKG)
Sun 08 Dec HKG-SFO
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/bDy6H

This route also has PE, hopefully there will be upgrade space. After Dec 4, you may be able to apply additional leftover GPUs to upgrade to Business. Sorry if this is one you already found.

My last chance to stay 1K in 2020. I need roughly $1,000 PQD and 16K PQM. Currently booked on the above itinerary with stopover in NRT.

I think DEN-PEK is probably the closest you're going to get in PE. An alternative for similar pricing is:

UA:$1182 DEN-TPE in PE 22268PQM 1088PQD
Mon 25 Nov DEN-SFO-TPE
(15h45m overnight in TPE)
Wed 27 Nov TPE-SFO-DEN
Link: https://flights.app.goo.gl/DAJDf

This location doesn't require a visa, and has an in-airport hotel.

Alternatively, DEN-SIN W-fare is around $1200, if there's PZ space and you have leftover GPUs, that may also be worth considering.

EWR-HKG is also a possibility. It's another $100 more, but possible to do without hotel, so it may still be worth considering.

Or if you can take the train to Philly:

UA:$564 PHL-PVG (via NRT) 16784PQM (~15600 UA metal)
Mon 25 Nov PHL-SFO-PVG
(15h40m overnight in PVG)

Departure Airport(s): LAX, SNA
Miles Needed: About 5000 PQM (+ $3750 PQD)
Required Spend or Maximum Budget (choose one, and state the value): I NEED PQD at this point, about $3750
Available Travel Dates: Dec, 2019
Class of service: Business/First
Required Metal or Codeshares Okay: Codeshares OK
Do you have a Chinese Visa (Yes/No)? No

I am short about 5000 PQM and $3750 PQD. I found this itinerary, but would prefer a PS flight for the lie flats:

LAX-IAD 815-406PM
IAD-LAX 530-812PM

in First Class

This nets about 13700 PQM, $4000 in PQD, and 44000 RDM

Still waiting for that "top off offer" discussed elsewhere on FT, but as we get closer to 2020 I am guessing it will not come...

My goal is the shortest-length trip possible, with as close to the exact PQM and PQD as possible, as comfortable as possible. Other approaches/suggestions appreciated.

LAX-HNL?

Did you look at LAX-HNL with lay flat seats? You may be able to check out ANA lounge (near Gate C4; between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm).

Edit: Check different dates for turn-around LAX-HNL flight; this link has long lay over: https://www.google.com/flights#flt=L...0*2.USD.123160

I am not sure there is enough PQD for me with the HNL trip ($1232 per your link). Plus a red-eye, ugh
THANKS for trying, appreciate any suggestions!

May I ask why you're willing to do a MR just to get Premier Silver? The money that you need/want to spend to get the status will easily buy you an Economy Plus subscription where you can select your seats at booking, and not at check in (when most of the seats are already taken). For all the other benefits (free checked bag, Premier Access), you could get the MileagePlus Explorer card for $95 annual fee. All without having to fly 12,000 PQM. Just a thought.

You will have a hard time to get 700 PQD with two such trips: https://www.google.com/flights#flt=M...40*2.USD.25840
The fare out of MCO is too cheap ($259 for MCO-LAX). You need to go to united.com to select more expensive fare classes and select routings carefully (to avoid red eye flights, too) to get enough PQMs. It is totally doable if you decide that it is worth getting the Premier Silver status.
Is it worth it making Premier Silver? [2017-2019 Consolidated]
Good luck.
