FT thread on Vietnam Visas/VOA
I urge people to review the extended discussion of the various visa/VOA options for Vietnam in this thread:
Visa / VOA Info for Vietnam
A kind soul placed a link to it in the wiki above.
Also, I will note that, in the past, the various embasssies were essentially in competition with the VOA letter providers. This led to information of varying quality about entry requirements depending on who you talked to. The introduction of the e-visa has brought some uniformity.

Without meaning to sound preachy or what-have-you, might I suggest people remember these are screamingly good deals.
So, if you:
- don't get to spend as much time in the lounge (or, any),
- don't get all the caviar,
- don't get the hand-written note,
- do get down-graded to J,
- etc, etc, etc,
while not ideal, you still got a great deal!
Just some food for thought ...

These higher fares were still available at around midnight New York time on the 31st. They were withdrawn not much longer after that.
Others reported successfully ticketing itineraries 'on hold' with CX. This took place a couple of days after the fares were withdrawn (posted up thread).

Indeed, I ticketed mine just two days ago after I had it on hold for a while. Although knowing it would be a risk, in my timezone it was like 30 minutes before midnight and I completely didn't feel like making serious decisions anymore...

Thats a great option if you can find availability. I have a ton of VS mikes across two accounts that we were planning to use for ANA F awards. But one way back from Asia on the tail end of this deal is another need that we could fill with these.

Refund what fare difference? Surely you are not talking about the erroneously filed one, right? In all other cases, it would have to be the pax who would theoretically refund the airline, as normal J fares are much higher than the incorrectly filed A fares from the day. Although I am pretty sure that CX would not do that...

I do think it is extremely unlikely that a flight attendant, even a top-tier flight attendant, would have any idea about how Cathay plans to utilize their plans in the months to come.

Vietnam - CX Interlining Bags?
Anyone know the policy for interlining bags outside the codeshare?
What I am thinking is the positioning flight on Vietnam Airlines (not a codeshare) to the New Year's fare flights of Cathay Dragon/Cathay.
Example 1 - Single Ticket, JFK-HKG-HAN (on CX codeshare with Vietnam) - I believe bag(s) will be checked through.
Example 2 - Two Tickets, JFK-HKG-HAN, first ticket, HAN-XXX on Vietnam Airlines (non-codeshare) second ticket - Will CX interline bag(s) all the way to XXX destination?
Example 3 - Two Tickets, XXX-HAN, first ticket on Vietnam Airlines (non-codeshare), HAN-HKG-JFK second ticket - Will Vietnam Airlines interline bag(s) all the way to NYC destination?
Experience? Links?

I just unsuccessfully tried to change my HAN-HKG leg to be able to spend more time in the F lounges (I only have a 1:45 connection). The booking change process almost completed with only the $100USD change fee, but then it said the “flights are no longer available”, however I was still charged the $100 fee.
After chatting on FB Messenger, they said it was due to “the super sale” fare, and the price would change to $15,017 if I wanted to go ahead, or they could refund the $100 change fee.

Doubt it...
At least on my flight dates (1/23 HKG-JFK and 2/2 JFK-HKG where it looks like I'm the only one paying $845 for the FC deal ) that would make the other 5 FC pax's rather upset and would cost them dearly in compensation for them. Last time I had an equipment downgrade on CX, which was more than 10 years ago, it was a HKG-BKK from 3 class to 2 class, and there was an envelope at the gate with my name on it for HK$1500 as comp. Since it was an award, I remember, that was fine.

All jokes aside I'd say this lady is talking our of her rear end about things she has no clue or company input about. Management won't update their flight attendants of all people about strategy.
