Top tips for the "Dim Sum / Chicken adobo" fare:
  • At more than 5 weeks after most of us booked this fare it looks increasingly likely that the fare will stick. However prudence is still advisable and we should all avoid contacting the booking agent and if essential to contact try to deal with the airline direct.
  • Check that your original itenary is intact and ticketed as PAL revised their LHR flight schedule in early September and there appear to now only be 5 flights a week now rather than daily. Use TripCase to do this - see post #114 on how to do this (thanks to @MyFlights App). If you have incurred an involuntary change you can contact PAL and they will permit one change to amend your itenary. They appear to be flexible to shift flights to adjacent days, but if you try to push to be rerouted on another carrier to maintain the original itenary times you might find your flights are cancelled and you end up with a refund.
  • Online seat assignments are not possible on PAL when booked through a 3rd party, you have to call up, it is best to call PAL on 0808 164 9888 rather than the booking agent.
  • Whilst it looks like the fare is going to stick be aware that making other travel arrangements around this booking are at your own risk so consider making bookings that are refundable or covered by insurance if needed.
In hopes that this will go ahead, here's a wiki to see who's going and when.

Like many other people I've had the minor schedule changes too. Called PAL's UK office asking if I could rebook to another date. According to the agent PAL has a two hour policy which means free rebooking is unfortunately not applicable here Nevertheless he was very polite and helpful, and selected my seats too.

I've never seen an airline allowing free changes due to minor time adjustment, unless MCT is compromised of course

I have. IIRC believe TK has a very low schedule change requirement, 30 minutes or so. But I'm not 100% sure.

I got real lucky on the GA £1084 non refundable LHR-MEL J deal from December 2016, I was in for 2 tickets, they changed departure by only 1hr.
AU immi refused my girlfriends visa application twice, soon after I got the schedule change notification and immediately emailed Garuda saying it was unacceptable and that we would miss connecting flights blah blah.
A couple of weeks later over 4K AUD was back in my account.
I considered my self extremely lucky and learnt my lesson not to go all in on deals unless I/we can absolutely fly.

I'm about four weeks after the first PR flight and nothing credited to EY yet. I've chased EY and am told it's pending PR review...

Anyone have any EY crediting success?

AMS-TYO QR R (business) for £550, allowed change of departure to within x many miles.
This allowed some of us to gain a LHR departure and return, so times were obviously fairly flexible.Think departure time changed, by just over 2 hours.

We are talking about minor changes here, i.e. 30' later departure from LHR
As this won't require to be at the airport earlier, nor affecting MCT in MNL and neither changing ETA at final destination in HKG, it's a bit tricky to convince PR that such a change will impact your travel plan so dramatically to justify a free change of day.

MNL-LHR 30 min change has resulted in a 1hr later arrival than originally scheduled? Are they also changing the flight path, expecting head winds or flying with less thrust?
I was going to try to catch the BA 20:30 flight to BUD same night of arrival from LHR T3 but it’s out of the question now (

I've been notified of a schedule change MNL-LHR but departing 25 minutes earlier and arriving at the same time.

Do you have the option to check your bags straight through or do you have to collect in MNL? I haven’t got a definitive response from PR customer service.

Actually I'm in a very good position to answer this.
I had a ~20 hour overnight stopover in MNL on my way to HKG,and I thought I had to pick up my bag in MNL. However to my surprise, the check-in agent asked me if I wanted to check thru to HKG. I asked if it's possible given my stopover was 20 hours and she said yes, so I said check thru please and she gave the bag tag all the way to HKG.
For some other reasons, I had to see a supervisor at LHR, and I double checked with him showing the tag I already got. He confirmed checking through is possible as long as the layover is under 24 hours.

The next day, I arrived at MNL. Because the airport seemed to messy, I was still skeptical about the answers I got in LHR, so I decided to wait at the carousel anyway. It took me about 45 mins to pass immigration check, but by the time I got to the carousel, it still hadn't finish unloading our bags. I waited there for another ten minutes, and my bag DID come out! ....... I checked the tag on the bag, it did get tagged all the way to HKG, and there is an extra green sticker that says like "transfer in Manila". Anyway, I took it and left the airport.

Then one day later, I was back at the airport to check in for my HKG flight. The agent said: looks like you already have a bag in transfer, and I said you mean this one? She was confused why I had it, I explained what happened, and she said I shouldn't taken it. I asked why it came out in the first place, she was like: ah, it would be fine, if in the end if it's left on the carousel, some staff will collect it and send it to the transfer queue...

That's when I recalled something: by the carousel, there is a screen, on which you can see a guy working by the back part of the carousel, he took some of the bags off it before the bags come out to the baggage hall. Now I think he was supposed to take all the bags with a transfer tag off, and I can't believe this is not an automated process.

So, conclusion.
Yes, you can check the bag thru for an overnight stopover. But there's a chance that your bag will come to the baggage came. If nobody else takes it, accidentally or intentionally, it will eventually be taken back to the "backstage" and sent to HKG.

13h overnight layover.
Agent at LHR checked our luggage automatically through to HKG without any intervention (which was good for us)
but we were also a little bit leery about the whole process and waited for 5 minutes at the baggage reclaim in MNL but left the airport after that time has passed.
apparently we didn't wait long enough which in hindsight I feel very relieved so we didn't have to deal with the baggage when checking in again. strange procedure tbh

nevertheless we received our unharmed luggage in HKG as one of the first.

stayed at Red Planet Aseana City. quite low budget but overall very decent experience just 15 minutes away from terminal 2.

recommended transportation: grab or taxi
speaking of taxis: I strongly recommend taking the yellow airport-authorised metered taxis. with the others (white) you are subjected to the arbitrariness of the driver whether or not he will use the meter and if not how much you'll have to pay.
