Top tips for the "Dim Sum / Chicken adobo" fare:
  • At more than 5 weeks after most of us booked this fare it looks increasingly likely that the fare will stick. However prudence is still advisable and we should all avoid contacting the booking agent and if essential to contact try to deal with the airline direct.
  • Check that your original itenary is intact and ticketed as PAL revised their LHR flight schedule in early September and there appear to now only be 5 flights a week now rather than daily. Use TripCase to do this - see post #114 on how to do this (thanks to @MyFlights App). If you have incurred an involuntary change you can contact PAL and they will permit one change to amend your itenary. They appear to be flexible to shift flights to adjacent days, but if you try to push to be rerouted on another carrier to maintain the original itenary times you might find your flights are cancelled and you end up with a refund.
  • Online seat assignments are not possible on PAL when booked through a 3rd party, you have to call up, it is best to call PAL on 0808 164 9888 rather than the booking agent.
  • Whilst it looks like the fare is going to stick be aware that making other travel arrangements around this booking are at your own risk so consider making bookings that are refundable or covered by insurance if needed.
In hopes that this will go ahead, here's a wiki to see who's going and when.

And keep us updated! Oh, and PAL is receiving its 4th A350 today or in the next couple of days!

The outbound of the 3 have been changed (LHR-MNL by 2 days, to after the MNL-HKG leg as some have posted above), and inbound of both sets moved by a day..

As a newbie, I don't want to jump the gun and make the wrong move. Should I contact PAL directly to sort out the outbound leg? (I was hoping to try and get it moved to the prior day of the initial outbound and line it up with the 2 tickets from travelup)
Update: I was able to change the dates to the ones I requested as well as the MNL-HKG leg quite easily with AirfareNetwork and TravelUp.

Just had an email saying "we would like to inform you that there are changes to your upcoming flight from London UK, United Kingdom (LHR) to Manila, Philippines (MNL) due to adjustments in our flight operations. Please advise us if you accept the new schedule"
The outbound is an hour earlier arrival and inbound half hour earlier taking off.
Sneaky that one, I'll call them later to confirm the times and let you all know the result....

So I just called Philippines airlines on 0808 164 9888. Explained to a friendly lady called Friia about the email and confirmed I would like to accept the new flight times and could she assign seats for me too, which she was very pleased to do, she confirmed the flight times and the fact they were all in business class and also sent me an email with the updated seats and times!!!

Seems like fairly "normal" minor adjustment to flight times, and less than two hours and for this route doesn't appear to cause a misconnect in either direction, and typically would not be a cause for asking for a flight change. The changes coming through now are PR loading their Winter timetable which will run from end October to end March. I wouldn't bother to call *unless* you want to use the confirmation of the flight times as an opportunity to choose your seats.

Flew this outbound no problems. The aspire lounge in LHR was pants. The A350 was decent - the biggest IFE screen I've seen. The food was good. The drinks were slightly lacking. No queue at immigration in MNL. Flight to HKG was also lie flat.
Enjoy all

Were you expecting lie flat on MNL-HKG or was this a last minute equipment change?

Excellent news that you’ve travelled! Let’s hope the rest of us are as lucky. Enjoy your trip.

Looks like I misread the seatmap, it was as expected (A333 3 class)

There doesn't seem to be much information about the lounge at MNL - anyone recently been there? Also, is it open 24hrs?

Not been there, but this YouTube seemed to be a realistic view of what the lounge is like

Opening hours might be 0300 to 2100 according to Lounge Buddy
