Top tips for the "Dim Sum / Chicken adobo" fare:
  • At more than 5 weeks after most of us booked this fare it looks increasingly likely that the fare will stick. However prudence is still advisable and we should all avoid contacting the booking agent and if essential to contact try to deal with the airline direct.
  • Check that your original itenary is intact and ticketed as PAL revised their LHR flight schedule in early September and there appear to now only be 5 flights a week now rather than daily. Use TripCase to do this - see post #114 on how to do this (thanks to @MyFlights App). If you have incurred an involuntary change you can contact PAL and they will permit one change to amend your itenary. They appear to be flexible to shift flights to adjacent days, but if you try to push to be rerouted on another carrier to maintain the original itenary times you might find your flights are cancelled and you end up with a refund.
  • Online seat assignments are not possible on PAL when booked through a 3rd party, you have to call up, it is best to call PAL on 0808 164 9888 rather than the booking agent.
  • Whilst it looks like the fare is going to stick be aware that making other travel arrangements around this booking are at your own risk so consider making bookings that are refundable or covered by insurance if needed.
In hopes that this will go ahead, here's a wiki to see who's going and when.

Nope.

There telling they called me and said yes to the cancellation. So the’re pulling the call log and will get back to me. Interesting since I surely did not get that call. But PNR is pulled, so it will be a miracle if its re-instated. Not counting on it.

Sorry to hear about the situation. It seems you are the only one that flight is being cancelled.

I told them I didn't want that and that would agree to the original change. Now 10 days later I got the e-mail that the tickets got cancelled and also don't see the PNR anymore in trip case.

I'll try to fight it, but I have the idea that when the PNR is cancelled not much can be done. I do think this is an isolated issue, and also am the only one here at the moment. So maybe I pushed my luck and others will stick.
Similar situation. Very very poor level of English by the agent. They emailed first, I replied what are the options and they send me option with 1 day in HKG only. So I told them I see availability on previous day to change it to that. They agreed but called me back couple of hours later that the airline said there are no seats. Strange as all business class buckets had avaiability. Did not really had time to talk to them so I said do not cancel. We will see.

That's a shame! Sorry to hear about your outcome.

I must admit I'm feeling a lot more confident about flying on this as the days go on. I may even put my dates in the wiki

If you are willing to fly then you have a lot of options within a 3h flight radius: China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines and Taiwan. Now it all depends on what you want to do: you have Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, or Chiang Mai with its temples and Elephant Nature Park, Bangkok also in Thailand, in China you can go to Beijing or Shangai, or unique places like the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, etc...

I have 3 days in HK and then I fly to Philippines islands with Cathay using Avios airmiles :-) (shame I cannot skip 2nd leg on PH flight). Thanks to HK being Cathay base, options are endless - Cathay fly with wide body aircraft even on intra Asian routes, so you get proper business class there as well. And if I am right, I should get about 18 000 etihad miles for this trip, which is very handy

So a bit over month before first flighs are scheduled to commence. At 2 weeks mark EU261 cash compensations starts to apply unless extraordinary circumstances?

On another forum there was someone flying beginning of october, his tickets haven't been cancelled yet. Now I am actually quite confident it will stick.

Yep, without wanting to tempt fate, we are now 5 weeks in, and it's highly likely that any financial reconciliation that happens between the airlines and the online agents should have taken place by now and discrepancies found acted upon.

I'm not going to celebrate yet - from experience I won't until I fly - but this does look like this is highly likely to stick.

For those of you who had flights rescheduled (try not all jump in over the next few days) it's probably best to call PAL reservations directly and generally avoid calling lastminute/bravofly/etc about anything. I called PAL last night and had no trouble to accept the change of my outbound flight to be one day later but also got the date of my return pushed back by one day so the length of my trip was not impacted. The airline agent was clear that only one free change was permitted due to the involuntary change made by PAL. And I was able to get seat assignments sorted in the same phone call.

Fingers crossed for us all... And thanks to @Raffles for the original post.

Flying this tomorrow.
Any last minute advice on where to credit them?
I'm currently thinking ANA due to the number of european star alliance airlines - they might be useful for a short haul upgrade or two.
