I see there are many lounges available (Miracle transit hotel is $100+, and want to avoid if possible) was there one in particular that we can catch a nap in? I have PP and Amex plat. Lastly, how early were you able to check in at BKK? TIA
I took that flight last month. My hotel graciously gave me at 10:00 PM checkout at no extra charge, and I just took a cab to the airport around 11:00 PM.
Check-in counters were open by the time I arrived.

On to the next mistake fare!

Best,
Steven
thanks for your report.

I've taken lax-hkg this week, the line up for Y was crazy as well. Maybe because they couldn't check in online? I find reservation management online is poor, maybe because I've bought mine from priceline.

funny i had exactly the same food you had. I wanted miso beef, but they've run out so I had stuffed chicken. Sticky rice was ok, but rice noodle roll was dry.

the best plate that I liked on that leg was the cheese plate, and huge for a mid flight snack. As I've seen the dim sum photo before, I thought I should order a dim sum plate and cheeses. The fa suggested me to order one at a time, he was so right. I had a plate of dim sum a few hours later, though.

Our famous cracked mirror was still there, but one of the lavs in Y that I've used also had it. The a330 on hkg-dps was fine, so the mirrors on a350 keep breaking? Sure they look so cheap.

Sfo-hkg and hkg-sgn

Just flew SFO-HKG-SGN. Restroom had a cracked mirror as well on the SFO-HKG segment. I was not able to check-I’m online since there was a change in aircraft for HKG-SGN. Check in at the airport was fairly quick and not much of a queue for business class and the staff were friendly. I booked through Expedia and I had to contact HK Airlines chat team for seat assignments a few time because of the changes in aircraft. Prior to the change and after the change. Also to add my FWC number.

Food was decent but you’re only entitled to once serving per meal, lunch, midflight snack and pre-landing meal. For a 15 hr flight, I found myself hungry a few hours after the midflight snack. I was not able to order another midflight snack as they only had enough servings for one serving each person. The only thing they had was donuts. My wife and I had one. As for pre-landing meal, the option was bbq pork or beef lasagna. I woke after they had went through the first time to take orders. When they came by again, they were out of bbq pork. As far as service, all staff were pretty quick with the order. I did find that one of the FA seemed like he worked for a chinese restaurant. Like he’ll take your order and doesn’t acknowledge or say anything before walking off. Most FA did read me my order back to confirm. During the flight, I felt parched. I wish they came by to check with their guests if they needed any refreshments. Their glasses were little and only a small bottle of Evian were provided. I will probably grab a couple of bottles of water to bring on board for my return flight.

Even though I was downgraded to K for HKG-SGN, I had no issues accessing the Club Autus lounge with my boarding that pass. It’s a decent lounge and the food was average. Nothing spectacular. If you like HK style cafe or good dim sum, I would suggest you have your meals before coming to the lounge.

For $700, the experience has been great so far. Much more comfortable than being in economy. We sat in the middle rows with the seats on the inside. I would prefer this over seats on the outside for couples. If you’re going with a friend, it’ll probably be best to get window seats, especially the one against the windows vs aisle.

HKG-SGN was a short flight, 2 hr 25 min flight time. When boarding, everyone just got on at the same time. Flight had no entertainment or WiFi. It was pretty basic.

I just finished my SFO-HKG-BKK flights. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, it helped me out immensely and I had some great flights.

A few things I’d like to add:
-There really is an issue with lack of water. I was given a small bottle at the beginning of the flight, and refills in their tiny glass at that point on. For a flight that clocked in at 15hr47min, it was a problem. If it’s possible to bring water, consider it.
-The service was excellent. Something I noted three times was a FA cleaning the lavatory before I entered. I was given a customer satisfaction survey that specifically asked if FAs were maintaining the cleanliness of the lavs. Such service seems unimaginable on a US carrier. 😀
-The food was above average IMO. I ordered the Chinese option each time, so that may have helped.
-Champagne was warm but the FAs were aware of the problem and gave me the option of waiting or having something else instead.
-I carried on the maximum baggage allowed (two bags plus a personal item). None of my bags were weighed or scrutinized.

Overall, it was a great flight!

A dp on changing. I have lax-hkg-dps-hkg-lax, I wanted to end my trip at yvr instead of lax. I thought it'd be easier/cheaper after the trip started, so I wanted until I got to hkg. At hx lounges, attendants don't deal with ticketing, but they have courtsey phones to call hx. Because I bought mine from priceline, I was told to make changes with them, despite my trip had already been started. I also asked at hx information booth, I was told the same thing.

I called priceline, I was told the fee for hx was $200, their fee $50, and I had to pay $2k+ for repricing, so I of course declined.

We are also traveling to dps next week and have a 16 hours layover in HKG, I just chatted with an online agent about whether I could check one piece of luggage all the way to DPS and one to HKG only. Out of the blue, she told me that they could not check the luggage all the way to DPS because they could only do that if the whole trip is completed with 24 hours. I though only layover longer 24 hours instead of the whole trip, but she insisted.

Could anyone have similar itinerary shred some lights? Many thanks!

Flied on the older A350 (couple's seat) from LAX-HKG. On the newer A350 (reverse herringbone) on the way back. The latter had several seats with broken IFE's; although, it didn't really pose a problem since a lot of seats were open and the FA's were very open to hopping around different seats.

On the flight there, one FA seemed tired of his job, or very mean sometimes. It's just how another member described in his post: Chinese take-out (lol). After asking for Dim Sum, he warned me that I couldn't order any for 7 more hours. After waking up sweating in t-shirt and shorts, I asked the same FA if it felt a little bit too hot. He said that it needed to be that warm so other people could sleep Ż\_(ツ)_/Ż . I had to ask for slippers.

The rest of the FA's were all really nice.

And then there was the water-situation... Warning, water is a scarce resource, and requires you to ask for refills constantly. I suggest grabbing a couple of bottles of water at the LAX lounge before boarding the flight, as Evian was hard to come by. If you've seen the Fyre-festival documentary on Netflix, you know what I mean.

The cheese-plate was amazing, as was the french toast (available on the return flight). The mock-chicken was meh.

Overall, had a very pleasant experience, and would definitely fly with them again -- especially now that I've accrued so many Fortune Wings points to be able to redeem for a O/W business class upgrade.

Thanks for honoring these tickets HK Airlines!!!

Evian.

Thinking of water - a few years ago, I was flying CX out of Hong Kong, and some extra water I brought along was seized at the gate in the name of enhanced security for US bound flights. Does anyone know if they are still doing this?

while it's true many airlines don't check all the way when involving an overnight layover, I was given a choice and I chose to check all the way to dps. Another successful example was on tk through ist.

hx seems trying hard to save food for sleeping px or for those requested to have them later, my requests to get 2nd servings getting declined way too often.

their j service is reactive than anticipating. They don't go around with a pitcher of water, but all you have to do is to press the call button, and maybe ask to have 2 glasses of water. I've had a half dozen cans of Carlsberg and other drinks, never rejected.

cheese plate was the best like I mentioned earlier , and the portion is huge. I'll look out for the French toast on my way back.

it's been more than a week, no points posted yet despite both of my bp showing my fwc #.

I flew the first portion of my fare last week. At check-in, I was told my seat, 12A, was completely broken. The only offer was $450 in cash to downgrade to Y as the flight was full in J, which I had to accept considering all of the flights I had booked on the other end. Luckily, the service manager approached me at the gate and told me the seat was fixed and that I could sit up there.

Overall, great hard product, but just be careful when flying on the new reverse herringbone configs as they seem to be flying with multiple broken seats at this point.

Just completed my SFO-HKG-BKK a couple of days ago. Both flights on "older" A350 and actually liked the seat more as we had 2 young children. No complains with in flight service and amenities and yes, the cheese plate on SFO-HKG flight was surprisingly really good.

They could not issue our HKG-BKK boarding pass for whatever reason in SFO and were told that ground services will "take care of us" when we get to HKG. Sure enough, the inflight crew told us to stay on-board until ground services would "help us" which ended being until everyone else had gotten off the plane. Expecting a LH F treatment and boarding passes already printed, we were merely escorted to the transfer desk and told to stay in line and get our boarding passes there and no escort through the long transfer security line. What a letdown and waste of time and effort!

Now i'm dealing with one missing check-in bag that no one has any clue where it is. Did it make it on the plane in HKG or is it in BKK? sigh..

This is great news as I'm taking the 6:30pm bus from Hua Hin to BKK and was interested in what time the counters open. I'm scheduled on the 4:00am flight but am going to try to change to the 3;20am flight.

I popped in at midnight and the counters were very open, my guess is they probably open around 11:30PM. I asked about switching to the 3:20AM (was booked on the 4AM) and was denied.
