I used my AMEX Platinum and that worked fine.

the lax-hkg seg alone will satisfy the challenge for the gold status, so it doesn't really matter when you start the challenge, but I'm curious: your trip isn't happening till Feb, but why are you starting your challenge this month? Are youflying hainan group or partners like AS before this hx trip?

I guess fortune wings club status means nothing when flying partners like AS, except for bonus miles? Or do we get some perks like free bags, priority everything?

I think all of our itineraries are booked as fare class j, but I cannot find anything about it on my priceline confirmation, hx website confirms itinerary, but it doesn't show fare class. Calling or chatting are the only way to confirm?

Jumpseat in the cockpit, most likely.

The request must be submitted before December 31, according to the website, so it's unclear whether the challenge must also start by December 31. Has anyone asked for the start date in 2019?

My flights are early Feb so I just figure why not have it start before end of the year since it well and truly covers the period I need it to. Taking into account the fact it isn't a "normal" J price ticket, I wanted to limit the possibility that the challenge wouldn't be honored (because it wasn't started in 2018) and there is no guarantee they will run a similar offer in 2019. I probably could have resolved the "apply in 2018, start in 2019" dilemma through online chat but to me it didn't matter.

Not sure about benefits with AS, didn't really look into it yet.

My experience with online chat has been great both times, not much of a wait and was able to assign seats/confirm fare class and attach my FWC number prior to applying for the challenge.

HNA Group-controlled Hong Kong Airlines hit by three high-level resignations

Probably nothing to worry about, but something to keep an eye on for those booked in the future. Flying HX in Feb myself.
As a thinking exercise (as I repeat, I don't think it's anything to worry about), what could one expect if HX were to go under/cancel LAX or SFO? A fight to refund the tickets, no refunds, accommodation on another airline (such as Hainan)?

Thanks for the info. What screenshots or information did you send in for the card?

I sent them front and back but I blurred out my credit card number besides the first 5 digits.

The non-stop would have been nice from a miles perspective...

Mirror in the right front WC on hx60/hx61 appears to be 'almost' fixed... well, the main mirror has been replaced, but the corner mirror still shows prior signs of the trauma. Good to see the maintenance repair though!

Current menu on SFO-HKG for those with upcoming flights (no guarantees they keep it the same after 1/1 for all the Jan departures though). The poor pepper steak dish mentioned by Super_Mileage_Fan earlier in Dec is gone now though.

Flyertalk is not letting me upload this image right now, it keeps disappearing after finishing the upload. Sorry about that.

Thats actually a different plane. I flew both the big crack and little crack planes last month.

Thanks for the clarity, I didn't check the tail before boarding.
