The other problem is that it is almost impossible to get hold of them.
I have found that the CHAT feature on their website is always answered immediately.

So I have signed up for Fortune Wings Club, signed up for the Gold Challenge, and selected my seats.
Is there anything else I need to do before departure?

Try and select food when departing HK :-) but its a PITA

No, I emailed them with a copy of my *A Gold card, and had reply within 12 hours that I was registered for the challenge.

I signed up for the status challenge about a week before my first set of flights. I heard back within a day. Three days after flying LAX-HKG-BKK, I received an email letting me know that I statisfied the challenge, and a request for the best address to send the Gold card. I've had no issues with the mileage for this deal crediting to my Fortune Wings account.

Got same email but all in Chinese. Too bad I will only be silver since I forgot to sign up for the challenge.

Hete are my efforts to change my return so far. Chat cannot make any changes. You have to call the call center. The call center says that since it was a mistake, the fare does not exist. Any change would revert it back to the normal fare, about 2k add-collect. They are happy to put me in economy with the $200 change fee.

Under this reasoning then if no segments were flown yet and because it is a “Mistake” fare they should issue a full refund and not charge the $200 USD cancel fee?

Are you looking for a refund? I haven't seen anyone post about that experience, but I'd think they'd be OK with refunding you on this fare if you want it. It's at least worth a shot.

How many miles were you credited with during the challenge? I have the same exact flight and just signed up for the status challenge. I guess I'll qualify for Gold after flying to BKK as well?

LAX-HKG-BKK netted me 17,360....hope that helps.

As a Select member the outbound earned 17,360. LAX- BKK

As a Gold member the return earned 26,040. BKK-LAX
