I saw that in my feed today as well. The article mentions it will service LAX-HKG. Anyone know anything about their delivery schedule? How likely is it that one of these bad boys will be flying to SFO by March?

According to the article:

But for those wanting to experience the new aircraft cabin, currently the only route to feature the product is Los Angeles which will start next moth.
So, by March, easy. But I assume they'll need two for this route.

I am not going to do a charge back since HX did the honorable thing by honoring the mistake fare. It's a great deal even with no changes
i booked with fully intend to pay change fee after first sector. as i wont need the return until august 2019. (i still have many AA SWUs to be spent.)

You can see the delivery schedule here: https://sites.google.com/site/a350xw...roduction-list. It looks like 5 or 6 new A359s will join HX fleet by March, but I have not seen any reports as to where (other than LAX) they will be allocated.

Does anybody know if they are going to load new seatmaps in for these flights? I have a flight in March, LAX-HKG, but they are still showing the old (current) seat map, which is the staggered version. I've already gotten my seat assignment...just wondering about keeping an eye on it as I'm sure they will update assignments as they go forward.

I have to buy separate tickets to get to LAX for the flights to Asia, does anyone know which airlines I should book so that I won't have to pick up and re-check my luggage at LAX? Thanks!

There's this post:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30096719-post480.html

People have suggested it's the Etihad lounge in practice, but the reviews have mentioned the generic international lounge.

Did we ever set up a wiki for this? Just realized it's September and people are starting to fly

Anyone can, I think.

In any event, I just did.

At SFO HX shares the lounge with KLM which is tiny and gets easily crowded

There are two HX lounges as HKG with one being just past security and the other (and much newer) one being near the departure gates. We flew the outbound SFO-HKG leg on 3 SEP and other than a 4 hour departure delay the flight was good. The delay kept us from spending any real time in HKG as we have a noon flight to Bali on 5 SEP.

I am in the same situation - and looking at less-than-optimal use for my SWUs.

BTW, if the ticket was not pricing beyond March return at this price, maybe this specific fare did not allow returns beyond March. No one knows because we have not seen the full fare rules. But if this is the case, it is unlikely that they will change your flight to Aug 2019 without re-faring. I had a similar situation with the QR sale LAX-sin-lax (usd 1700 or so) last year.

Currently in DPS now after flying SFO-HKG-DPS a few days ago. The A350 was comfortable enough for he 13.5 hour flight from SFO. The A330 from HKG-DPS was the old angled lie flat but Business was nearly empty so it wasn't that bad at all. HX uses the Air France/KLM lounge at SFO which gets incredibly crowded right before flight time. Not a great selection of food. I only stayed for about 45 minutes before heading to the gate.

The service onboard was very good. The FA's were friendly and warm and seemed eager to please. The food, while not as good as CX, was plentiful and delicious. The seat on the A350 was comfortable but seemed a little cramped. I was still able to get a solid 6 hours of sleep on the SFO-HKG flight. The amenity kit was lacking a bit but was still sufficient. I met one other person on he flight (also traveling to Bali) that took advantage of this fare (not sure if they were from FT or not).

Our flight landed about an hour late so I didn't venture to the HX Lounge at HKG but I will tomorrow when I fly back to SFO. All in all, not a bad J product. And it will only get better when the new seats on the A350 start rolling out. I certainly wasn't disappointed. YMMV.
