Flight schedules get updated all the time and this is probably one of those changes.

Yeah, just random that they are adding an hour to a 2.5 hour flight. I guess the departure time change might just come later.

According to the HX employee Facebook group, they just took delivery of their first A35A, and will be flying the HKG-BKK route between 9/5-15. They will begin flying it to LAX from 9/16.

That's the model with the reverse herringbone seats?

Had a pleasant experience, unexpectedly.
I've purchased SFO-HKG-SGN in March, and booked through Expedia.
Initially Expedia sent confirmation without eTicket number, and then canceled it. I called and supervisor said that there are no tickets for this price anymore.
Then for a week they have not reimbursed me...
I called again, initially asking for money back - after a few "on-holds" they said "we can get you the ticket for original price"... Cautiously I agreed. An hour later I have a ticket number email.
It gets better: chatted with HX CSR, they were super nice, confirmed my date, and allowed me to get the seats that I preferred! So happy now

I'll post a screenshot of the chat once my account reaches 5 posts

It just seems odd that they added the hour to the arrival time of the PVG-HKG leg but not the departure time of the HKG-LAX leg. The layover has shrunk to 80 minutes which seems a bit tight. Is there a minimum connection time for HKG?

Neither mainland China nor HKG observe DST, AFAIK. The schedule change notification I got for our late March flight is to move HKG arrival back by 10 min (9:55am vs. 9:45am originally), perhaps padding flight time to accommodate chronic delays due to congestion at PVG.

Can anyone point me to the online chat link? Trying to find it on hongkongairlines.com is a nightmare and I'm trying to confirm they have my special meal request for our flights coming up in the next two weeks booked through this deal

I flew the outbound SFO-HKG flight and am trying to change my return from one Asian city to another but HX wants to reprice the return with an add-collect of almost $2k. Seats are widely available in J class, and the original fares were the same from both cities.

Just a heads-up to people who thought they could do this.

Anyone saved the full rules of this fare?

while normal fare rules permit for changes after segment1 is flown to be priced using historical fares, i think the issue you are running into here is that HX didn't publish a J* fare basis and instead mistakenly allowed a economy fare basis to book into J. HX corrected the error in the booking class allowed on the economy fare basis, which means it's pretty hard to look at historical fares to find a relevant J* fare basis for your new itinerary. as far as I know, no one has published the exact fare basis code used for these tickets. do a couple HUCAs and then I'd give up on this one.

Thanks, Colin.

I will try the Chat today and also call Expedia, just in case....It is not easy to reach someone in their call center.

There were some people in this thread above in a possible similar situation - so this is an important data point. I will update.
