Maybe the Mods should move this back to the Premium Fare forum.

So many sites have declared this fare dead LONG before it was.

This morning's queue was only 29 long, and the agent assigned my seats quickly. That's not reflected anywhere I can view my itinerary (Expedia booked), but the seats now show as taken on EF. So I hope she knew what she was doing.

Me too. Prior to my chat the seats were vacant on EF, but now they show as occupied. Same seats I had selected via Expedia.

Current chat hold times exceed 4-6 hours assuming no additional staffing. Currently appears as chat is staffed by a single person. Improved from 79th to 73th in the queue in 45 minutes.

Does anyone have thoughts on if the check-in folks at the airport could do seat assignments for flights months from now?
(We will be on a different trip in a few days and have some time to kill between flights. It would be easy to swing by.)

I spent 3 hours last night in a queue for live chat (number 142!) and the agent came on and refused to assign seats, said call 48 hours before. Then i read the threads here and everyone said they were calling/writing and getting seats. I tried again on live chat a bit ago. Took about 20 minutes and she got me seats for 3 of my 4 legs and said the system timed out.
I am starting to believe this is real, supposed to leave sept 5 LAX > HK --BKK and back

fingers and eyeballs crossed.

Also managed to get seats assigned for all my flights using the chat. Wait was about an hour, started as 65 in the queue. Went down to 38 and then suddenly had a rep on the other end.
Seats show as taken on the checkmytrip seat map but not reflected in my booking. Hope they will stick.

I have to laugh at the unassigned seat fear. At this price I'd gladly take the worst seat in the J cabin and still feel great. I guarantee the worst J seat in the cabin is way better than the best Y seat.

Does the queue number update on its own? Mine hasn't changed in the half hour I've been on.

The pros here will book as many as possible with all APIS ready on travel sites logged in, with option to cancel unwanted within 24 hours.

The ones you should really worry is correct names matching your passports, which ironically still mis-entered by many. Even DOB can be changed, but your official names can't without major hassles if even possible.

Sure, but why not try for the best J?

I think we all know that having a seat assignment does not guarantee the airline will honor it, it's all about that psychological peace of mind that thinking if I have a seat then I'm on.

But no worries guys, I also have a need for fake psychological peace of mind so after 2 hours on the chat I got seats assigned to what I wanted. Excited to see Thailand, have a sixe hour lay over in HKG on the way there and hoping to go see the city.

The train in is about 25 minutes and very convenient. You should be able to get maybe two-three hours in HK. Great city!
