I booked all flights directly through the HK website. The change / penalty said $200.

Here is what it says on my itinerary: Q/NONEND RFD USD250REB/NOSH USD200Q/NONEND RFD USD250REB/NOSH USD200

I saw the change fee for 200$ USD directly on the HX site. However, what if one were to want to fly an earlier segment from HKG to DPS? Does that change fee apply, or it may be something else altogether? This would be a great question to call in...if I could call in right now.

I think this one may be officially dead unless anyone has had success in the last 30 minutes.

I've seen some availability on HX website for lax-BKK in Feb/Mar for 1 traveller, but unfortunately I am looking for 2. I think it is dead on the OTAs haven't been able to duplicate anything there.

They lost the case, and yet...?

Neither airlines nor the DOT are stupid. Everybody could studiously ignore using the "m" or "e" words, as you call them, and the intent of the posts would still be the same, and they would have exactly the same evidentiary value. (Zero, as you yourself pointed out, because AA lost the case!) The idea that "m" and "e" are somehow "magic" words, and that I'm making a difference for travelers by censoring them in this post, is silly. If AA's argument were valid, they'd pay somebody $50 to advertise their (regular) sale fares as "m" or "e" fares and make a ton of incremental sales. Hint: they don't, because it's not; people like these fares because they're inexpensive, not because they think they're pulling a fast one on a company. They'd sell equally well as "flash sale" or "one weird trick" fares.

If it's a regular sale fare, HX won't have anything to defend because they won't cancel any.
If it's a mistake, HX will demonstrate that fact on their own, and if part of their evidence is this FlyerTalk thread -- a losing strategy, mind you -- they'll focus a lot more on the people posting that they've purchased 3 or 4 of them than they will on posts that acknowledge the obvious.

Looks like someone at HX misfiled the W/V class base fare and fare rules as J class. I can see it in the fare rules which mentions W/V type fare, and according to ITA the W/V are pricing the same as the J tickets I booked.

After booking my flights, I realized in hindsight I really rather be in China or Bali. My friend is telling me that Thailand is just not worth the visit and that I failed to leave myself enough time to enjoy anything after counting travel. I am departing Nov 6th (arriving 2:30AM Nov 8th) and departing on Nov 11th at 3:20 AM.

Is this trip worth it for the stress and hassle?

Should I just cancel it or give it a try?

It looks like changing dates or destinations is a no-go at this point, but I've been looking.

I had found a similar short itinerary with bad flight times like those. Another thing to keep in mind is the jet lag. By the time you adapt it'll be time to come back. If it was cheaper I'd say do it for the J experience, but I'd just cancel if I were you. I really wanted HKG and settled for DPS, but I haven't heard marvelous things about BKK. Just my 2c.

Are you not able to cancel within 24 hours of a booking if it is made in the US?

Is this trip worth it for the stress and hassle?

Should I just cancel it or give it a try?

It looks like changing dates or destinations is a no-go at this point, but I've been looking.
