Returns are easy to find, but outbound to HKG is mostly J0 from either LAX or SFO.

Does anyone know how to reserve a seat on the HK Airlines site if I booked on Expedia but didn't pick out a seat?

Maybe, maybe not. I booked late, directly through HX's site, and was the only J seat assignment on three of the four legs. Looked at having friends join the trip, but the fares were gone on those dates immediately afterwards. It's super unlikely the fare change was because all the J seats were sold.

Most people and threads are saying can't be done until check-in. (I am in the same boat.)

Thanks for the feedback. I did some digging around myself. Online Chat should be able to help assign a seat prior to check in, but I recommend us all waiting to see if this deal goes through prior to that.

It was a long wait for an agent, but Live Chat quickly assigned seats.

There is still C and D. Probably the J inventory was meant for the flash sale. If they decided to end the sale early they may have started zeroing J to end the sale.

I feel like if this were the case, they'd be advertising the crap out of the flash sale on their website. However, prices are still the standard 4k +- round trip.
