I originally booked a couple of 2019 itineraries via Expedia, however since I wanted to add an overnight stopover in Seoul on the outbound decided to try and book with AMEX travel instead while I was still in risk free cancel territory with my expedia booking. As others reported, I was successful in booking both itineraries with AMEX travel, the one with stopover priced out a few dollars higher $1882 or thereabouts. Also would rather pickup the 5x AMEX MR, and feel in the case this fare goes south think the likelihood of AMEX making good on it are far greater than other OTA's such as Expedia, Hotwire, Priceline etc. YOMV. Granted you have to cough up the $39 ticketing fee, but also found that fare availability was far greater than what was pricing out on expedia for me, I simply used ExpertFlyer to search LGA-DPS on KE, and as long as E class was available on the first and last segment with C class on the remainder and you take note of the Date and Day of Week Restrictions believe the availability at this moment is far greater than any of the OTA's are truly displaying. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Happy Flying and thanks to the OP for posting!

In before the bell

Just booked on Expedia for September '18. EWR-ATL-ICN-DPS-ICN-ATL-EWR r/t for $1997 total. Slightly more than the original price the OP quoted, but this works for our travel dates.

Expedia returned an e-ticket within 10 minutes. I got a confirmation number for KE, but not DL. However, since I input my SkyMiles number during the booking process, the FlyDelta app updated itself, and the trip appeared in the "my trips" section automatically. Selected our seats in the app for the DL legs, but had to go to the Korean air website to get the seats for the 4 KE segments. Delta segments show H class for EWRATL and Q class for ATLEWR on the return. All KE legs booked into C.

the ATL-ICN legs on KE are operated with the B748i ^ This was a summer schedule change by KE, and it appears to operate on this route through the end of the summer schedule on 27 OCT. I'd consider that a "push" compared to the DL A350 suites, maybe with KE edging out since its a daytime flight. Plus... its a whale! what's not to like?

Now we wait and see if this sticks. Thanks OP for the great fare!

Just snagged my very first Premium Fare Deal - never really thought to go to Bali but for this price it's a steal. Both ways in DL One on the A350, the price on DL site for the ATL-ICN-ATL legs alone is almost $6,000! Bringing the whole family, of note kids (at least 2-5 from the fare rules) are charged 75% of the fare which is nice. Change or refund is $200 so little risk to this. Regarding the back and forth about how this books and if it will be honored, the flights showed up almost immediately in my Skymiles account and I was able to select Delta One seats for the long legs... hope this will survive both the airline and the wife who now has less than 24 hours to nix the whole endeavor...

Of note, the KE 777 operated flights have a super short layover in Seoul (45 minutes) and that sounds extremely iffy considering you have to go through transit security which can be very lengthy at that airport... does anyone know if KE offers escorts for short connections through security?

Any recommendations on seat assignments for the KE metal flights? I see on the B747-8i segment the upper deck has an emergency exit on row 18. As for the KE 777-300ER that is a difficult decision what seat to choose.

Booked EWR-ATL-ICN-DPS-ICN-ATL-EWR. Atlanta and soul flights operated by Delta and Garuda. Was able get itenerary in Delta immediately. Having trouble entering in Korean’s site because there does not seem to be an EWR departure city available on their drop down selection box. Any ideas?

How do you know its on B748? I am finding dates too, but everything I have always seen is 777. I am likely booking on expedia.

Thanks!

Use ATL and ICN as your departure and arrival cities.

From a previous post (not mine):

Fare says 1/8/19-5/3/19 or 17AUG-2DEC (2018)

Mon-thurs transpacific departurel only

There may be other fares(and dates) that allow this mixed class, you'll have to trial and error

Myself and Mrs scored the LGA-DPS in late Nov 2018 for a few days away. Looks like the A359 D1 suites ATL-ICN and the Garuda A333 ICN-DPS. Opted for the late departure out of LGA because of work and positioning flights, and a shade under $2k apiece to net 70k skypesos, 33k mqm and 8900 mqds. Bought through Expedia, ticketed and seats on the A359 picked. Any ideas how to pick seats on the GA flights with KE flt numbers?

Have to login on the KE site and select your seats there. See a few posts up on how to do it.
