Talking [NOT BOOKABLE] VEF currency on the ITA matrix :D ($600 tickets for $60)

I see very good prices in the VEF (Venezuela Bolivar) currency on the ITA matrix. Tickets priced at USD$600 can be found at the equivalent of USD$60 in VEF (and I'm talking of the official exchange rate). I know Venezuela devalued their currency yesterday and were in a blackout today.

Is it possible to buy tickets in VEF?

You're only about 3.5 years late. You haven't been able to buy tickets with VEF in any of the big foreign airlines since 2014-2015.

Yes, maybe... I didn't ask myself the question in the past because the price in VEF always followed the price in USD (I'm talking about the official exchange rate). But today the price difference seem to be crazy!

Airlines were losing their shirts on conversions, so went to US$ only.

You can ask Matrix to price in any currency, but that does not mean you can buy it with that currency

I guess if the fare rules allow the ticket to be sold in Venezuela, you can get a local travel agent in Caracas to issue you the ticket. Although, I don't have any experience in this so I'm not sure how this would work.

If I read the fare rules of the airline I'm looking at; it doesn't explicitly exclude VE

However, other airlines such as UA (United airlines) explicitly exclude VE.

Hahahaha! But yeah it's free because United does not allow VE in the fare rules... What about the other airline I was looking at first ?

EDIT: For the other airline, it's bookable in VEF: however, the price in not the same as in the matrix

And if they don't? I see a few that don't have any restrictions.

Yes, the one I'm looking at doesn't have the restriction.
