What was the total VEF price? Maybe it was too low to even be equal to $1

It was only VEF 6239.03, so I think it was too low to even equal $0.5

Ok, guess I'm the guinea pig -- just booked a flight I actually needed to book.

The text says:
Your credit card will be charged an approximate total of VEF VEF5,704.86 which includes the base fare, taxes and all surcharges. The breakdown of your charges include CAD $641.83 (converted to VEF VEF5,103.68) and Insurance CAD $75.60 (converted to VEF VEF601.15). Your statement may show one or more charges that equal the total agreed charge listed here. These amounts have been converted using today's exchange rate.
So by all accounts it should be charged in VEF.

However, my Amex shows a pending charge of the charge in CAD:

VEF6239 is equal to USD$0.31 for Mastercard https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/cons...-currency.html

Thats weird since when I booked it charged in USD, but the converted amount. I used VISA though.

"Your credit card will be charged an approximate total of VEF 202.627,50 $ which includes the base fare, taxes and all surcharges. The breakdown of your charges include flight(s) Air France (USD $ 20,288.11) (VEF 202.627,50 $).Your statement may show one or more charges that equal the total agreed charge listed here. These amounts have been converted using today's exchange rate."

They charge in USD and convert to the old VEF exchange rate of 1USD=10VEF.

I was able to successfully 'book' this one by changing CAD to VEF at flightnetwork and used a burner card from privacy with a $10 limit. I have strong doubts it will ticket though.

At this point, I think the only way to pull this one off is through a Venezuelan travel agent. And even then...

"The total price listed above has been converted using today's exchange rate. Flight prices for this booking will be charged in USD. Charges appearing on your statement will vary based on the exchange rate used by your credit card company. Foreign transaction fees may apply."

FlightNetwork, right below the total price

I'm curious. How can one easily get a $10 burner card? Online?

privacy.com

you can create cards to use for various merchants with a max dollar amount and can use any billing address... quite handy for situations like these. I used Caracas for my billing address
