(Was there ever a sentence in the English language that used the word "first" so many times???) :D :D :D

KLM gives only a pitiful amount since it falls under the new rules. Would Delta be better? I would just use them for an award booking.

I booked 2 SFO-CDG-LHR on the 777 both ways right when the deal broke. Selected seats during booking and can pull up my reservation on AF website, but now I cannot change my seats on the La Premiere legs, even though there's one seat available both ways. Could this be step 1 to cancellation?

palmanfr Dec 19, 2017 10:17 am

I have a few reservations pending payment, which will expire in 45 minutes. I just booked one and it went fine. E-ticket was issued immediately. Tried to go online to see if I could change the dates of the booking. Any changes of date costs 8000$+... 😮

Aaaand another missed deal because my girlfriend is too slow replying with her available vacation time slots. New girlfriend anyone?

Am I out of luck, as I assume this can't be updated?

Not one of my finest moments :(

I did this a few years ago when booking a LAN ticket on a Spanish website. I had to send in a copy of my passport and they were able to change it for me.

palmanfr Dec 19, 2017 10:23 am

One of the booking on hold is for my two parents it's a one way ticket and I will pay for it now. But looks like the dates I selected are not ok for them. Obviously it's too late to change the dates so I was thinking about paying now and try to change the dates online. In case this is unsuccessful, I guess I can still get a full refund of those tickets right ?
Considering the fare conditions say so and that I am using the US website...

sgan317 Dec 19, 2017 10:24 am

If my ticket is on Delta stock, I will earn 400% RDM via Virgin Atlantic? Someone tell me why this wont work/is a bad idea

paranoiatx Dec 19, 2017 10:24 am

Well, grabbed 1.5 of these. DL stock and flight numbers -- not sure if that will make much difference (vs AF flight numbers) in honoring these.

Someone at AF (or DL?) is gonna have quite a headache sorting this one out...

I've learned my lesson - there are times when the deal is so good that you just have to book it first and ask later :D. I just realized that I booked my week overlapping a family reunion I am supposed to go to. We'll see how it plays out..

You'll be able to cancel penalty free with these fares, but you won't be able to change things without paying the difference between this mistake fare and the normal P fare - which means you're on the hook for an easy five figures.

Damn I did it too lol... oh well. I can't see how it would be an issue. Lots of Tickets print names in various orders. Think I'll just call and add the middle name.

haha I've stopped even waiting on my wife to reply - I just book 4 different dates, and keep only the one that works with her vacay days.

exactly, this was essentially the holy grail of mistake fares. fully refundable, leaving little excuse for not booking several based on hypothetically feasible dates.

says the guy who only booked one   but at least it's on a date i know i can use it if it's honored.

right, for really hot fares you have to up your game.

I missed a couple of good fares a few years ago playing this game and adapted in much the same way.

Ok. So I guess I will book now and try to convince my dad to change his vacation days ! 😀

SFO777 Dec 19, 2017 10:31 am

Whew. I need a shower after that.

My 6 reservations are showing as active on AF. Indeed, when I went to check 15 minutes ago, it showed one still "awaiting payment".
I had changed my mind on that one two hours earlier and thought it was lost. When I clicked thru, it let my buy at the $1,515. price.
Since these are fully refundable and changeable, there wasn't much risk buying these even when the dates and/or equipment are not perfect.

BizClsDreaming Dec 19, 2017 10:34 am

Can still pull up my reservation on AF.us. One thing it's not doing is accepting my Skymiles #. But I'll worry about forcing that in a few weeks if this all goes through.

There is car transfer both ways. At LHR arrival you generally won't have someone escort you through security, though it does happen at other outstations.

Will do so next time. Also doing research about which first class is better b777 or a380 on AF and thinking too long about SF or LAX and studying the NHL schedule (I'm from Europe..) turned out not to be the perfect approach. lol
Well at least I got the 640€ AMS-TYO-AMS QR deal (Y) this year followed by 3 more QR deals :P Also I try to keep in mind it might be a good idea to book some error fares multiple times spread across the year. Helps to get to a high tier too ... ;)

This was a fully flexible fare, so while the deal was still valid you could change your flights on the Air France website to pick other combinations that weren't offered by the booking tool.

Given that the fares have been repriced, there is no scope now to change flights without being hit with a reprice.

CDKing Dec 19, 2017 10:44 am

Only $8,000 to change dates for me.

(For the avoidance of all doubt: You need to look this up on the Air France or KLM websites; if booked directly from Air France, the Amadeus PNR won't work on any other website)

If you are using a Delta-issued PNR, then that won't work on the Air France website (the airlines, though partners, use different GDSes)

DL PNR works fine on AF site. Just did all my seats.

Hah! So you admit that there is something less than perfect about some forms of AF P!

I had the same issue - was stuck with my FB number (because I booked it while I was logged in on my FB account). 10 minutes with the Diamond line and they were able to swap out my DL SM # no problem. I wouldn't worry about it right now (unless you're flying tomorrow or something), but it should be no problem to swap the number out at any point.

swingaling Dec 19, 2017 10:48 am

I wouldn't expect AF to honor this fare. It's an order of magnitude less expensive than it should be, so it's obviously a pricing error where someone messed up a decimal place.

I think someone may have confused "Premium Economy" with "La Première".

(Don't Americans speak French? :D :D :D)

Does this mean we'll potentially be seeing 6 more trip reports through 2018?

I actually suspect it's two orders of magnitude off, just going by the base fare. lots of fees and taxes on this one.

josephstern Dec 19, 2017 11:01 am

For everyone who's changing seats on the AF website but booked with Delta: I wasn't able to choose seats during booking, but now that the tickets are issued, I can choose seats just fine on the DL website.

Two orders of magnitude means a factor of 100.

You surely don't mean to suggest that the going rate shoud have been $151,500????

(Or maybe you intended to give the fare in cents - in which case, it's correct and all's well :D :D :D)

Ughhh!! Seem to have missed it. :(

2manyredeyes Dec 19, 2017 11:04 am

I was lucky enough to snag 4 of these round trips but sadly doubt this fare will live. Far too many tickets were issued for AF's liking. 3/4 of my trips are on AF's 777 and are fully booked in the F cabin....and I have a feeling none of them paid full fare prices. Lets just hope they don't tie up our money for too long.
