Didn't LX essentially do this at the gate to people who had already flown their first segment? Fly in Y or cancel.

Airlines may not cancel, but they can certainly downgrade you, like what LX did on the RGN-YUL fares.

We will all be frustrated, and the airlines will continue to have the license to say "oops" 24, 36, or god knows how many hours after the fact. Eventually, we will be frustrated with all of the airlines, but we'll still want or need to travel.
I think goodwill is pretty important. I'm much less likely to book on either Alitalia or Aeroflot than most other European carriers, even for a decent cost savings.

My 2 DL tickets are still good, but on Check My Trip, in the notes section, it says: INCORRECT FARE PRICING. Just a matter of time.

I remember it happened to our illustrious mod, SanDiego1K.

No inside info, but I'm fairly sure AS has done this. You basically never see 'fat finger' mistake fares from them... the only time something hits is when they have routing rule problems (like the PDX-SFO tickets that routed through New York).

The only reason more airlines haven't is because it's cheaper to lobby the DOT to get the rules changed.

I received the email from Delta also, but I also still have "PASSENGER STATUS: CONFIRMED" tickets in my Delta account. I assume those will be gone by morning.

Got the email from DL as well, though the ticket still shows up in the DL app and I can select seats etc. Probably just working through them one by one. Chances of my tickets slipping through the cracks— 0.0%

I booked as a Delta ticket, and my ticket still shows as confirmed in both Delta and the Air France systems for next summer. No email or call saying it’s cancelled yet. I can and usually do save quite a bit on hotel rates by selecting non-refundable rates. Since it has been roughly 36 hours and my booking has not been canceled nor have I been contacted, I would l like to make hotel arrangements (for both London and Scotland on this trip). Can I safely do so knowing I am protected for reimbursement if my ticket is not honored at this stage? Not trying to game the system or be greedy, mainly trying to save some money with the non refundable rate over the flexible rate if I do go on this trip while also being protected if the ticket is cancelled against my will. Some people say it should be reimbursed under DOT regulations, others say not necessarily. Would love an expert answer and data points if possible.

Do you think your non refundable rates are going to increase by 12/27? If so sure, you could book and you technically should be covered by the DOT when they do cancel your reservation. This isnt if they cancel, its when they cancel. It will happen. You will not be the 1 person who gets away with it.

Personally, I would wait. Its not worth the additional headache to save a few bucks. Give them a week. If your still intact after 1 week then you are safer to book but just know that the reimbursement is going to be a pain in the butt when they finally catch up to you.
