"Buying" expert help finding a ticket?

"Buying" expert help finding a ticket?
I am not a travel guru. And due to changing employment, I left my Christmas travel planning till late.
With the demise of expert travel agents, is there some mechanism to "ask a travel guru": "if you can find me the international routing I want for under LIMIT dollars, I will pay you PRIZE dollars"?
Or is this not possible because no "expert" can significantly beat the prices listed on momondo or whatever search engine?
