Booked 2 more tickets to back up, since I was not getting ticket numbers, here's what I have.
1. Expedia booking: SYD-LAX with 5 day stopover in AKL - received record locator, no ticket number
2. Amex Travel booking: SYD-LAX with 5 day stopover in AKL - received record locator, no ticket number
3. Orbitz booking: SYD-LAX, no stopover - received record locator and ticket number in minutes.
I hope to keep the itineraries with stopover, since I wanted to do more in NZ. But in either case I will have to cancel 2 of them.

Is it feasible to do a same day, same plane turnaround at SYD?
Arriving AKL-SYD at 10:30am on the return of ticket 1 and departing SYD-AKL at 11:50am on the 1st leg of ticket 2.

If only it was eligible for the other way around...but wow, that is an insanely good deal. If I hadn't already booked a year-end trip through Europe, I would've bought this, even if it meant having to cancel the return leg.

Looks like it's dead. Google Flights still showing $945 but reverts to $5500 once you click through. ETA: although it shows up on Google Flights as $5500, clicking to Expedia shows it still @ cheaper price.
