As a lot of people mentioned before in this topic. In star alliance it doesnt matter who tickets your ticket. It's the operating airline that counts.

It's another story for Oneworld though.

This is correct. *A generally earns based on the operating carrier (irrespective of what the marketing carrier is). Therefore, if you are flying on AC9000 operated by LH100, you will earn based on LH. OneWorld generally earns the other way around (based on marketing carrier).

For any UA MP members, the most award miles can be earned by flying on AC operated flights (200% + status bonus), unless the ticket is on UA (016) stock, in which case the earnings will be significantly less as they will be based on the price of the ticket. PQMs are the same for AC, LH, LX and UA (200%).

With the right NCE-SFO ticket operated mostly by AC, you could get to around 2cpm.

I agree with you guys about the operating carrier (when flying *A).

I managed to book MUC-SFO mostly on Air Canada, so I will either credit to A3 or UA in order to get 200%.

The last leg on LH will probably end up in my M&M account.

Afaik it is no problem to credit one segment to airline A and the next segment to airline B.

Convinced my girlfriend to go to Cali for New Years on LX. She initially wanted to sleep on it (not an FT'er), but convinced her to book late last night, and 15 minutes after we received the tickets, the deal was gone.

At 660 EUR, we wouldn't have been able to get Y-tickets on those dates, so this is an amazing deal. And excited to be trying out LX's 77-product in J.

Fingers crossed that this will be honoured, but my guess (hope) is that because this was only alive for 2-3 hours, the 'damage' to various carriers was limited. So far everything looks fine, but I guess we will be wiser come CET regular business hours next week.

So a big thanks to OP for this.

Booked through Momondo OTA. Not sure if this increases the chance for it to be honoured, but fingers crossed.

Of course comes added positioning costs, which is not necessarily cheap around Christmas, but at least there's some time to wait for fares to hit a sweet spot.

from what i read with other cases like these; always try to book through the carriers website instead of the cheapest OTA.
for example; last weeks AC Flash sale from AMS/DUS to YVR/SFO is still honoured with those who booked on ACs website. Some OTAs have "pro-actively" canceled the tickets based on the fact that it was a very very low fare.

So pay the extra couple of bucks, or take a chance that your ticket might be canceled.
Orbitz i believes offers a 24h cancalation period, so that might be worth something.

Slightly off topic, but I called AMEX to cancel one of the two tickets I booked. They told me their 24-hour free cancellation rule is based on business days, so I actually could wait until Tuesday to cancel. I tried to verify this online but couldn't find the actual terms & conditions.

I booked 27Dec to 01Jan Munich to San Fran last night for 720 Euros...

...on my phone. In a bar. Drunk (it was about 1am in Paris I think give me a break?) and I booked via an OTA on Momondo.

The man I was chatting to in the bar before seeing the error fare notification had to be swiftly blanked for 15 mins. "SORRY, STOP TALKING" Am I a bad person?

Made a mistake on my name when booking. I blame him. Had to cancel.

Booked again.

Got the ticket. Third successful error fare booking in a week. I'm so happy.
