changes within 24 hours not permitted only cancellations with full fare difference so best to fly as booked
I'm not sure I've ever hoped more for someone to be right. Thanks for sharing this hopeful data point.

There's no indication from ANA that they'll be cancelling people who received the e-ticket based on the comments I read on other travel blogs and in this thread.

We don't know yet- Japan is just waking up and it was the weekend. There is still a chance they won't honor the fare, AZ didn't start changing the bookings until a few days after the fare was gone.

Its worth to monitor your booking (using a App like MyFlights) to see any changes that are be made - and wait until the first person reports from a sucessfull trip.

Ok, called ANA and spoke with a manager via the US call centre and here is what he told me:

If you booked through ANA or other sites and you've received an eticket they will honour the tickets. ANA will not cancel tickets without customer approval. However, if you want to make a change to your ticket you will be charged thousands of dollars because of the fare difference. He also said the call centre has been flooded with calls regarding this fare and basically it was a system glitch that issued the low fare.

How I wish this system glitch happens again.

If that is true, that is impressive by ANA. Hey Air Canada, take notes.

Has AC failed to honor fares after tickets were issued?

Mine have never been cancelled.

I'm just thinking of the western J class flight pass debacle. I know it's not quite apples to apples though. But still.

They said they honored all tickets that had actually been booked from the flight pass.

It actually seems more like they did exactly what you're praising NH for.

I know, like I said, it's not apples to apples. AC cancelled flight passes, not tickets. I guess I'm looking at the scope of each scenario. What ANA will be honouring far outweighs what AC honoured in terms of cost. I have zero data of course to support this, only making an assumption and could be completely wrong. I can't ever imagine AC would do the same as ANA, given the same scope. They'd surely find a way to cancel them all and deal with the repercussions. I digress though, sorry, don't mean to pull this thread off topic.

Mine:

We may be on the same flights?

If you're talking about YVR-SEA-NRT, you would be pre-clearing immigration in YVR and arriving in SEA as if on a domestic flight.

Edit: n/m, saw the post indicating it's in the other direction.

Spoke with a CSR(SFO based), he confirmed NH will honor the deal.
If you like to cancel, they offer FREE cancellation. If you like to change, you have to pay the fare different ($4000+).
OP should start the wiki now.

This is probably the most sensible thing they could possibly do.

I felt like NH would honour the deal, just because I think they're a classy airline. That's probably totally naive but as I was furiously searching for the deal, read that it could be booked on their site that was the only way I was gonna go.

I did the same for an Ethiopian deal ex-LAX. Not only did it not get honoured (fair enough) but they didn't even say anything, no call, no email, nothing. I could've easily shown up for the flight and been jerked around from there. But as I obsessed over my seats I noticed one day my reservation said "there's an error, please call _____".

Good on ANA!
