CTA is in the pocket of the carriers so if they decide to cancel even Canada won't help you if they decide to cancel

My precedence point was more so towards the reports I've read about airlines having to cough up $$ for expenses incurred due to cancelling. IANAL but if I had to guess that would be more of a contractual issue versus any DOT territory?
You are thinking of DOT w/ reimbursement of some non Refundable expenses. CTA for example just says they need to notify you in a reasonable timeframe. When I went through my CTA complaint on RGN deal was same but they did not penalize the airline in any way for taking a month to cancel and I was out all non refundable expenses.

I've certainly read the horror stories of how the CTA complaints have no teeth and really favor the carriers; you having dealt with them for the RGN deal, you're much more in the know than I would ever be

But I hope, selfishly, that ANA doesn't get cocky with these tickets, knowing that the CTA would likely side with them. Too soon to speculate but I hope they do indeed honor these

Couple posts from a YVR travel blog:

Of course, that would be silly.

At hour 3 when I booked, ANA had already shut down the e ticketing system. I just have a meaningless reservation code with no confirmation email and there's nothing for them to cancel (learned that the hard way today). By the time I phoned at hour 10, they were well rehearsed with talking points and were never going to issue the tickets unless I paid the current fare. Chris was right to temper our expectations. Congratulations to those with confirmed flights!
and...

Just spoke to ANA directly... It was a system glitch apperantly they will be honoring it ! Just keep an eye out for your inbox for confirmations !

I will never get why people book through some weird OTA instead of a carriers main website or EXP/ORB when available.

Some folks say that the ticket is 'safe' with a booking through OTA which has been proven time and time again that this isn't the case. If the carrier wants to cancel they do it regardless and then you have the joy of getting your money back from the OTA which might or might not be so easy depending on the reputation of the company. Just ask the folks who booked the Alitalia fare and still haven't gotten their money back (1k+).

I was foolish to book through Momondo...if you booked directly on ANA then most likely they will honour it. You should call in and confirm. The airline agent told me anyone who calls in to inquire about that fare will get it honoured...bad luck for me.

Yup, shouldn't book with momondo in the future...if you booked directly on the airline website then you should be fine. I booked with Click my trip- worst ever! do not book with them, ever.

With the RGN mistake fare, ANA was very good at honoring everything even without being forced to by DOT.

That's really nice of them. They were already known for good service. ^

I booked YVR-SYD-HND-YVR by searching via Momondo.ca and booking through Faregeek after I had googled reviews of OTAs. It was before I had seen anything about being able to book this on ANA or United, Expedia wasn't available and the Flight Network ones I saw disappeared.

I had everything booked by about 12:35pm EST and got a confirmation email. Then checked my cc about an hour later and saw a charge from ANA. Got a 'ticketed email' with an ANA confirmation number around 6:30pm EST. I then went on ANA and saw reservations details and e-ticket PDF. I was then able to pick my seats at that time.

Safe to say this is good? I'm new to mistake fares.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, they are not honoring mine. I received a confirmation PNR (booked directly through ANA's website), but no e-ticket was issued at the time of purchase. ANA service desk admitted the fare was a mistake, and won't issue the ticket for me unless I pay the correct fare.

I didn't ask. I would imagine that unless ANA actively contacts passengers, and/or cancels confirmed e-tickets, passengers with confirmed e-tickets on-hand should be OK?

Good luck, everyone!
