Just pushed off on time from yvr on NH115. Great service so far, I think the cradle seats will be ok, pods certainly would have been better.

Thanks Fredd,

I went into the HND-YVR leg expecting to absolute worst and they turned out to be OK. Granted I'm fairly short at 5'8" and was ok with my feet hitting right at the end of cradle and my daughter is only 5'2" and slept comfortably for almost 7 hours straight.

I can see how these seat would be miserable for anybody taller that didn't have a bulkhead row.

One word of advice, don't do what we did,
HND doesn't have an Arrivals Lounge like they do in NRT so we transited airside at 5:00am and went to the lounge to shower and eat before heading into the city.

I quickly realized that there wasn't any way to get out of the airport. We were fortunate to have a friendly concierge in the lounge who called over an ANA staff member to escort us back down to immigration in order to leave.

The entire staff could not have nicer but on any given day the whole thing could have gone sideways really quick and we would have been stuck airside for 17 hours praying that there was a room available at the transit hotel.

In the end, everything worked out and we had a fantastic day in the city.

I'm planning to venture into town for the day as long as I can get some sleep on the flight from SYD. It looks like the showers in the Arrivals waiting area can be used free of charge for arriving business class pax.

Yes! It's to the left as you exit customs. I believe you also get a coupon for a coffee or other drink at the cafe next to it as well. I know you get the coupon with a paid shower there.

Sched Change

Does anyone have insight on getting a full refund based on a schedule change, albeit a very small one. There has been a 10min schedule change on the HND-SYD flights.

Fare rules say this:

CANCELLATIONS
BEFORE DEPARTURE
CHARGE CAD 500.00 FOR CANCEL/NO-SHOW/REFUND.
WAIVED FOR SCHEDULE CHANGE.

I booked through PL and was told that since the schedule change is only minor it doesn't qualify for the penalty waiver. I insisted that the fare rules say differently but PL won't budge and keep referring to some ANA service agreement. Called ANA but was sent back to the booking agent - PL.

Realize this a bit of hail mary but maybe there's a better way of navigating this situation (aside from never booking through an OTA!)

A taxi looks to be the cheapest way to get into the city?

I have to cancel one of my two reservations, and I also have the 10 min schedule change. I booked directly with ANA though. The fare rules do say "waived for schedule change"; I take that to mean any length of change. I'll try and report back.

There are luggage lockers on the lower level across from the ANA Domestic check in counters. They are down a long hallway and fairly obscure. There is a small sign with a briefcase and key along with the bathroom signs. They are coin operated and are 300 yen for a standard carry-on size bag for the whole day.

I can't speak to cost of a taxi but I paid 1650 yen for a monorail/train ticket to Shibuya Station and then picked up 200 yen point to point subway tickets throughout the day. I think I paid about 1200 yen to get back to the airport later that evening.

Taking the train (/monorail/subway) is going to be much cheaper as Bugeater says. You also can buy an IC card, either Pasmo or Suica they're interchangeable, for 500JPY deposit + stored value for each person before the entrance to either the train or the monorail in HND and then you don't have to purchase individual trip tickets. Just swipe to enter and swipe to exit.

At the end of the day, use up any remaining value at a gift/snack shop like the Sky Mart on the Arrivals level at HND and either keep it as a souvenir or take it to the service counter for the monorail (Suica) or train (Pasmo) there and get your 500JPY deposit back. Make sure to drain the card first otherwise you'll forfeit the first 220JPY of any remaining stored value as a refund fee.

Flew YVR-HND-SYD a couple of days ago.
First flight was one of my worst flights in J because of the craddle seat. I simply couldn't fall asleep.
Second flight with full flat seat and bed pad was really great though.
