Original premium fare deal was for QR J class travel, originating in Vietnam (SGN and HAN) to several destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Travel period 8/2017 - 3/2018 inclusive, RT fares in the USD 500 - 700 range (USD $0.05 base fare).

Reports have now been circulating that all held, non-purchased fares have been canceled by the airline. Some held and then purchased fares were also canceled, but several reports indicate at least some of those have been re-instated.

For more information on flying Qatar Airways, visit the FT forum: Qatar Airways | Privilege Club. This thread in that forum is especially useful: Qatar Airways Forum Dashboard.

This wikipost is intended to help us better understand if there are any trends (by route, travel date, and/or held/ticketed status) in these cancellations. In all entries, please include: outbound or inbound departure date, origin-destination, original ticket status (only *if* "Held" or "Ticketed after Hold"), and current ticket status only *if* your ticket was cancelled ("Cancelled" or "Cancelled & Reinstated").

What are our options?
I had a smaller schedule change (<1hr) and wasn't given any options online other than to acknowledge the change, which I did given that it also included a favorable aircraft change (B777-300ER to A350-900).

Apologies if this has been covered earlier, but does anyone know if it's possible to get off in BKK on the return trip back to HAN during the almost 2hr scheduled stopover? Unclear to me if they will let me deplane and if so, I would like to just drop the BKK-HAN part of the flight. I will have no checked luggage, so that is not a concern.

Anyone on SGN - DOH Pho Fare Sat. Sept 16

Currently in "Apricot Lounge" on one of three SGN - JFK, SGN-ORD (2) "Pho Fares" I was fortunate to book.

Arrived from Bangkok (VN Airways) and transferred. While I have a 30 day e-visa; one was not required as a transfer passenger with same day onward ticket.

As much as I am disappointed I won't be on the upcoming JFK QSuites flights, I am looking forward to the significant EQM, RDM's and particularly EQD's I will rack up as a current AA EXP in 2017 & 2018 allowing me to shore up 2018 EXP after this leg and set up 2019 EXP with early 2018 flights.

Will be in the Qatar Al Mourjan Business Lounge after arrival this evening. If anyone is around and would like to catch up.

I did HAN-BKK on my outbound followed by a stopover before BKK-DOH. When I got off the plane I had to show my boarding pass (ie just for the HAN-BKK leg) and was 'ticked off' a list on the jet bridge.

I don't know for sure but imagine it would be similar the other way around. Not sure if you could easily drop the BKK-HAN without having a stopover built in.

It appears that the SGN/HAN-DOH segments have all had around an hour added to their total flight time to fly around airspace that is no longer open to QR flights. Departure times ex-SGN/HAN for these flights are identical.

Has anyone flying this fare successfully added a free *or* paid STPC hotel?

I. STPC free of charge
•In cases where there are no immediate connections available between 8 and 24 hours.
•No exceptions can be given (7 hrs 59 minutes = not eligible, 24 hrs 1 minute = not eligible).
•N-class and above.
•Directional ticket value above USD 400 (incl. YQ tax).
•Directional ticket value is the sum of the fare paid for the journey and the Fuel surcharge (as shown on your E-ticket) divided by two.

II. STPC against a fee
•When the passenger holds a ticket in booking classes below N.
•When the passenger holds a Privilege Club redemption ticket in Economy or Business Class.
•When the directional ticket value is less than USD 400 (incl. YQ tax).
•USD 125 fee for Economy Class passengers.
•USD 150 fee for Business Class passengers.

I know nothing about planes. Would you mind telling me why the A350 is superior to the B777? Have this hour or so schedule change as well. Sadly not on the flights with Q suites

On Qatar, the B777s have B/E Aerospace MiniPod seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, while the A350s have B/E Aerospace Super Diamond seats in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration. The Super Diamond is newer and usually regarded as a better seat. All J seats on the A350 have direct aisle access, while those on the B777 do not (the window seats). QR's A350s also have WiFi, whereas their B777s do not.

Here is a useful resource on the QR fleet: The Complete Guide to the Qatar Airways Fleet

I'm currently sitting in Doha at the Al Mourjan lounge. In the middle of my outbound flight from HAN to ATL. I assumed based on the fare I wouldn't be eligible for the STPC, but when I arrived around midnight last night, I figured why not at least give it a shot, so I inquired at the transit desk if there were any transit accommodations available given my ~10hr layover. The agent was very friendly and said she would check. It took awhile and there seemed to be some confusion on her end of why the system wouldn't automatically book me. She apologized for the delay. Even asked a few colleagues for their input. Finally, one of the agents said "it's a business class ticket, it has to be over $400. You can go ahead and book it". And that was that.

I have no idea if this will work on my return flight, but I'll certainly try again. I think lesson is, don't request in advance and just go to transit desk, ask nicely and cross your fingers.

As an aside, I was booked into the Oryx Rotana, which is marketed as a 5-star hotel. I found the hotel severely lacking, the lobby had a strong cigarette smoke smell and my non-smoking room had a stale odor. I ended up going to Souq Waqif and spent most of my night having tea and sheesha at Tajine which is open 24 hrs. So if there is an option of places to stay, I'd avoid Oryx.

The Oryx Rotana is owned by QR, so barring any weird circumstances this is 99,99% what you're gonna get on STPC.

If you're travelling before the end of the year you could use the +Qatar program instead:
https://discoverqatar.qatarairways.com/us-en/plusqatar

It let's you choose your hotel, but it comes without transfer to/from airport and "regular" check-in hours apply, so it might not fit your schedule.

For those of you traveling with 2 or more people, remember that each ticket number is qualified for one free room night.

This comes in handy when getting in late on Monday night and leaving in the early hours of Wednesday...we were able to make 2 room bookings so that we have a room the entire time we're in Doha.

Interesting. So just to confirm - even though your fare was less than $400 OW (T&C say RT price / 2) and your layover was less than 12 hours they still offered you STPC? Was transit provided too or did you cover that?

Has ayone been denied an STPC on this fare specifically due to the price being below the the price threshold stated in the T&Cs?

How do you request STPC hotel accom. in advance? Because this is different than +Qatar, which may be booked online.
