Original premium fare deal was for QR J class travel, originating in Vietnam (SGN and HAN) to several destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Travel period 8/2017 - 3/2018 inclusive, RT fares in the USD 500 - 700 range (USD $0.05 base fare).

Reports have now been circulating that all held, non-purchased fares have been canceled by the airline. Some held and then purchased fares were also canceled, but several reports indicate at least some of those have been re-instated.

For more information on flying Qatar Airways, visit the FT forum: Qatar Airways | Privilege Club. This thread in that forum is especially useful: Qatar Airways Forum Dashboard.

This wikipost is intended to help us better understand if there are any trends (by route, travel date, and/or held/ticketed status) in these cancellations. In all entries, please include: outbound or inbound departure date, origin-destination, original ticket status (only *if* "Held" or "Ticketed after Hold"), and current ticket status only *if* your ticket was cancelled ("Cancelled" or "Cancelled & Reinstated").

It depended on the route. I saw $.07 to PHL and JFK but only $.06 to DFW. Still not $0.

By the way, you guys are progressing through the stages of a error fare at a break neck speed.

This makes a lot of sense of the earlier comment that Qatar may have not noticed filing in VND instead of USD.

Not saying it was an error - I bought AMS/TYO in January and it was honored without question - I was too late for this one.

Best of luck to those who got it - and lets hope QR's tweets about more surprises coming today means more Golden Tickets!

Actually, both my tickets quoted me with $0 base fare, and $700~ CAD in taxes.

I think it didn't show less than $1 USD due to their conversion software, when paying in USD or CAD...

But when I looked up the fare on ITA Matrix it was showing a very small Vietnamese Dong base fare

Would have been a decent deal if they intended to file at 1100USD BF, but not golden ticket worthy.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone buy a ticket for today/tomorrow and is beginning to travel?

But this doesn't explain why the fare turned out to be so prevalent on so many routes across 4 different continents. My understanding is that each fare has to be filed individually for each route. Even if they copied the fare and applied it with floating rate to all these destinations, it still doesn't explain why some gateways are included while others aren't (BOS for example). My guess is that the ones where the promotion did apply are routes where they are seeing low load factors, and are forecasting to go out with empty seats. In those cases, the opportunity cost to provide this sale is otherwise very low

You think JFK is a route with low load factor for QR? The only US cities where this didn't apply to were BOS, IAH, and LAX.

I certainly hope I am not the guinea pig on this one, outbound on 8th... already bookmarked the CX positioning flight and surely would like a sleeping pill... thought I was smart to put 2 days in DOH, then I realized there is this visa issue...

Actually, yes. Looking at the next week, 27/28 frequencies in both directions show J9 (the other is J8). So I think it's entirely possible, especially given the recent situation with Qatar.

QR sponsors free visa. And if your shortest connection is over 8 hours you're also eligible for STPC (provided you depart within 24hrs)
