Booked two. One ticketed and confirmed in J class from London. Received e-ticket from AZ a couple of hours ago, and have selected J seats and added FF info on the Alitalia website. Second from Frankfurt (through a different agent) is listed as confirmed with the agent and ticketed, but do not have confirmation from Alitalia. I can retrieve booking on the Alitalia website using the PNR but cannot add FF info or select seats. The system just says "You are not allowed to make any changes to the Itinerary at this point of time." It did that with my London booking for a few hours so I haven't quite lost hope yet.
The London fare is scheduled for departure within the next seven days. The Frankfurt one is towards the end of the summer. Perhaps they are honouring bookings that are imminent, but not those which are not? If the airline cancel my confirmed reservation now, I would presumably be able to invoke EU Regulation 261 and request that they get me to Tokyo regardless as it is less than seven days before departure.

No, you wouldn't. For EU261 to apply you must have a valid ticket, so if Alitalia voids yours it won't help you.

For an airline on the verge of bankruptcy it doesn't seem very prudent to honour an error fare of this magnitude but fingers crossed for you all.

Booked last night and I have what appears to be a valid reservation when I put the PNR into the Alitalia website. I understand the only way to select seats is to call the airline. I understand calling the airline during a Flash Sale is frowned upon as the staff are busy selling other tickets. How long would others recommend leaving it before i call?
