round 2

Fixed a Sept 2x run and a 1x run in Oct at SFO today. 2nd Sept 2x run doesnt look like it got fixed. Took about 30 min. Still have a 2x Oct run and a 1x Nov run to fix but thought I would wait til I am at SFO in Sept. Such a PITA.

I got a call today about a schedule change. Only to get an agent who basically didn't want to do anything except offer a refund. And then, discussing back about how this is an airline-initiated change, and then after sorting the flights, she was asking for a change fee. And then put on hold for like, the 5th time. If these Virgin America agents are all moving to Alaska, I'm totally jumping ship.

October PDX-SFO-FLL-LAX-JFK-SFO-PDX was changed to PDX-SFO-LAX-SFO-PDX. Called and was able to change it back to original itinerary (except first leg being the night before). Last leg has a 24 minute connection so that'll be interesting. Somehow she was able to save it even with that.

Just tried to fix my upcoming trips. Same as Justin Go above, phone agent was willing to change to the night before. A bit surprised considering how my last attempt with VX several months ago went. However VX is no longer selling PDX-FLL on their website. Instead it refers you to Alaska's website...where a pure VX-VX PDX-SFO-FLL option is one of the ones listed.

Agent was able to piece together an itinerary by breaking that into two segments but because the segment number is changing, it's triggering a reprice and after consulting with her supervisor, referred me to the OTA to have them contact call VX to fix. Grrr.... try that again.

ETA: Partial success. OTA was able to get VX to restore the segments & changing the first PDX-SFO segment to the previous night. Took about two hours. VX exchanged the ticket so it's now with VX & not the OTA however... despite reading back my flights to me by the OTA, when I just check the reservation on virginamerica.com, it doesn't show the return from JFK-SFO-PDX.

ETA2: Apparently this is VX's great IT. It shows the JFK-SFO-PDX legs on the email/print receipt screen along with seat assignments. Everything's there. Now to fix the other one..

ETA3: Second trip fixed! ^^ Priceline agent offered to call me back instead of putting me on hold when calling VX. Fixed in 50 minutes, same as above moving initial PDX-SFO to the night before. But on this one, VX didn't exchange the ticket so it's still with the OTA. Ż\_(ツ)_/Ż

Here's to VX/AS not messing with the schedule further before the flights.... *fingers crossed*

OMG! This is getting better all the time. "Schedule change" notice from Priceline again last night after I got my second trip fixed. They now show two ticket numbers so I have an OJ between SFO & LAX on my outbound on one with SFO-FLL-LAX nested on the other ticket number, still on the same reservation. However, when I check virginamerica.com, there's a third ticket number exactly one digit lower than the higher ticket number from Priceline and a single itinerary.

How worried should I be? I can pull the reservation with all three ticket numbers on VX's website and it shows the complete itinerary. Used private browser mode so I don't think it's cached data.

I'm waiting until September to call back in for my October. Luckily I booked them all straight through VX so no third party to call.

I was starting to worry that seats wouldn't be available if I waited too long and VX would then use that as an excuse not to fix my trip.

I called yesterday to Priceline (OTA I booked through). I explained the issue and they said they would fix it. About an hour later got a call back that original routing had been put back into place. I'm actually impressed by Priceline!

Tread carefully here and don't be surprised if VX claims you purchased through a third party. I used google flights to book through VX. The link sent me to the VX website. On their end, it shows I booked through Kayak.com, a site I have never been too.

Maybe it's a strategy to keep from having to change these itins back. After much back and forth and speaking to an agent higher up, I finally got a partially reinstated itin. 10K miles instead of 12K miles. I can live with it for the hassle of not fighting them further.

This was all AFTER I sent the original confirmation email (direct from VX) to resfaxes to prove the itin I paid for. Otherwise they kept insisting I made the itin changes and they wouldn't change it back.

Overall, good riddance to VX. I'll ride this ship to the bottom of the ocean with mileage runs until they are defunct.

AS elites can now select preferred (non MCS) seats on VX operated flights directly on the VX website. I just fixed seats on one of my tickets. Er i mean updated App since 6 segments trips don't work well on website

Now that Alaska elites get better seats, I made my first attempt to get my October itinerary reverted back to the original.

I called Virgin. The agent put me on hold for a while and said I had made the changes? Then the agent said oops, no actually this 800 phone number had made the changes and gave me the number listed on the rez of "LowestFare.com" which is Priceline (my OTA)?

I called Priceline and the agent there was much more helpful. I gave him the complete original itinerary (which is still possible to book segment by segment, same flight numbers and everything). He said he would need to send that off in an email to Virgin and we had to wait 7-10 days for a response.

Normally I wouldn't give much hope to something like that, but based on positive Priceline experiences like below I will cross my fingers and check back in two weeks.
