Google Flights. Lots of flights to ANC (through PDX or SEA) for under $400 R/T. Same day returns. Not the "rock bottom" cheapest, but readily available.

THere's an SJC-PHX-DEN and Back totalling just over 2700 miles for $235 on AA
I forgot to mention that I can also do AS parnters for this run. So my options are pretty open here. The only concern is that I only have 35 minutes on the layover in PHX and and the DEN to PHX is said to be usually 30 minutes delay. Not sure how accurate that is.

AS will give you 150% of actual miles flown if booking in first class. The most convenient same-day flt would be SJC-SEA r/t most days in Oct/Nov in non-refundable first class. Price is around $318+ depending on date/time. Mileage accrual towards status = 2088

Why did I think of that. LOL
I'm actually doing that route tomorrow required MR have already taken tomorrow's trip into consideration. If I up it to F for both flights, I would only yield an extra 348 miles.
So either way, your suggested route might work well and shorter travel times.
