[PREM FARE GONE] Sfo-ist $1484 kl/af j

Example dates:

Seems like both KL and AF use shorthaul planes for the IST leg which isn't great but still a pretty nice fare.

Sale has returned

This fare first came around three weeks ago at about $1170. Current price is still very good. Available thru March. A few months ago, it was also available at a similar price from PHX or DFW. I also see:

IAH-IST for $1800
DEN-IST for $2120
SFO-ZRH for $2070

Can be booked (flown) on DL, AF, and KL and also ticketed on any of the same three.

An AF ticket number begins with 027. I have two IST flights ticketed on AF thru AF's website (instead of Delta). Earns more redeemable Delta Skymiles that way.

SFO-PRG for $2000-$2200 depending on dates.

$2050 for SFO-VIE either round trip or SFO-VIE-JFK, $1850 if you go SFO-VIE-JFK-YYZ...

This something that I noted in the last sale, but does anyone know why YQ/YR to IST is so low, relative to other destinations?

SFO-TXL and SFO-IST for example have the same exact base fare, but SFO-IST ends up being way cheaper due to much lower YR.

What is so unique about IST in this regard?

Nothing. The airlines now use YQ to change fare prices without having to file new fares. They're just offering a lower overall fare to IST and the way they get that is by dropping the YQ.

Tourism to Turkey has plummeted in the last 2 years thanks to concerns about terrorism following the multiple attacks in Istanbul and Ankara. I would imagine the airlines are struggling to fill these flights.

Super Z Fares - many codeshares

Does anyone who has bought these flash sale Z tickets know how codeshares are handled when ticketed? That is, my out and back TATL segments are on DL 8xxx Air France metal. Does my ticket get me into L'affaires (AF J/Z)? I'm pretty sure it does, but its been a while since i've flown codeshare as I try to stay on DL aircraft where possible.. Thx!

I booked a while ago on this route out of IAH. Any idea how changes to an itinerary might be handled by delta/Air France? I supposed to be there in 14 days.

The international terror situation is really out of hand lately, and Istanbul is just a little too close to the smouldering Syria/Iraq situation. Further, as allies/US push ISIS north, there's probably going to be more 'people flow' into Turkey, and sleepers cells/young radicalized already there staging attacks.

Glad I saw Istanbul a few years ago before all this mess.
