[FARE GONE] J PEN-YVR $1758CDN o/w One World and friends. F option available.

To EOS
Double for return.
Appears to be a mileage type fare.
Many routing options available.
The greater the mileage flown the higher the fare.
Search on google flights. Bookable at AA.com

Cheapest routing appears to be PEN-KUL-NRT-YVR

Connections available in most SE Asian cities.
$2212CDN routes PEN-HKG-AA-DFW-YVR
HKG-ORD is another option.

CX routings available across the Pacific.

$2569CDN o/w gets you
PEN-HKG-(CX/F)-LAX-AC-YVR

I see ample opportunity to use this as a return from an Xmas vacation to SE Asia, and abandoning the last leg to YVR... especially if you live in SFO or LAX. Haven't seen any ORD routings though?

The other interesting thing about this fare is that the long haul segments (at least the CX versions) are AA codeshares... and Google flights says one must call AA to book... so if you book the J version for ~C$1780 it's 2x EQM on the HKG-LAX/SFO leg, and for the F version it's 3x. Not a bad boost for EXP status. Only problem is that this fare seems only to be valid originating in PEN, not in YVR, so one would have to position to get it.

hehe, I love it when these things resurface and they make more sense in light of product or alliance changes. Look at the creation date in the GDS ;-) Remember that great line from the Ronco Food Dehydrator... "set it and __get it!" Also child fare is 67% so quite good for families.

The only restrictions on flights (so few restrictions are not atypical of these older vintage AA fares):

THE FARE COMPONENT MUST NOT BE ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
AA FLIGHTS 5100 THROUGH 5249.
AND
THE FARE COMPONENT MUST NOT BE ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
AA FLIGHTS 6075 THROUGH 6124.
AND
THE FARE COMPONENT MUST INCLUDE TRAVEL VIA EACH
TRANSPACIFIC SECTOR BUT NOT ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
AA FLIGHTS 7950 THROUGH 7969.
Same rules for J and F, looks like the base fare is about $500 more for the F. Note for AA J segments you get 3x EQM w Advantage. These used to be scattered around Asia when I lived in Singapore 10 years ago.

What's the creation date in GDS? And are the AA J segments 3x because they're full fare?

Remember that Shakira song "Hips Don't Lie"? That year...

Yup

KA now flies ex-PEN. BTW, see CMB-YYC/YVR AA J fare as well, many of the same tips and tricks work. With a little effort you can get CX metal for the same price as the inferior JL metal to YVR. MPM is 9438 by the way.

Exceptional availability - almost every day for the next few months, it seems.

If you dig back into the ancient Premium Fares threads (before this forum existed), and consider the fare basis, you will understand why. Or ask yourself this... what is the highest fare bucket in business? What fare basis is this?

stephem Mar 5, 2016 12:04 am

It's possible to get AA codes all the way through, I found PEN-KUL (AA7447) -HKG (AA8905)-SFO(AA8929)-SEA (6861) -YVR (AA6871). That's over 28k EQMs one way as they are all J or F.

Also possible to route through BKK or SIN with a little work, or HND-SFO (JL), so tons of routing options here and the ability to pick your favorite carrier.

Understood.

Can also book F one way (AA codeshares) to YYZ (with your choice of CX or JL F via JFK) for only RM9097 (~US$2240). Wow. Astounding...

Were it not for AA gutting both their earning and redemption sides of their FFP, this would have been a no brainer for me. As it is, I'm tempted more to spend my existing pile of miles rather than trying to rack up more.

Wow guys. Thanks. This is amazing, especially the 67% fare for kids. Have one-way to HKG booked already this xmas with no destination in mind. Penang it is!!!
(At least somewhere close)

Is there an expiry date?

globalentry57 Mar 5, 2016 5:41 am

Is this still available- can't pull it up on either of ITA or Google.

torontochinese Mar 5, 2016 6:43 am

can someone please post a google flight link for a sample date?

torontochinese Mar 5, 2016 6:45 am

found one. https://www.google.ca/flights/#searc...YZ1AC8901;sc=f

Is there a trick to get AA to force flights on JL?

I'm able to price out on google, then re-direct to AA.com. But it prices in USD. I'm in Canada and want to avoid that as you get dinged with the FX fees.

If I go to AA.com and sign-in, all the pricing is in CAD. But...all I get are CX/AA flight options. Not bad, but I want to fly JAL via ORD or JFK.

Tried doing multi-city, but could only get the JAL at cheapest fares with ORD-YYZ adding a detour via CLT. My wife won't go for that as she's already testy on the existing routing.

NEVERMIND...ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION. IN ADVANCED SEARCH JUST SELECT AA FLIGHTS. IT'll CODE EVERYTHING TO AA, INCLUDING ON PARTNER METAL.
