For those of you in NYC, you can force the return routing through JFK or EWR and it comes to an astonishing $350 USD. As long as you don't have checked bags, you can hop off in NYC so it's basically a round-trip itin with that one caveat. Just pack light or bring crappy clothes with you and get rid of them before the return flight.

As long as you don't have checked bags, you can hop off in NYC so it's basically a round-trip itin with that one caveat. Just pack light or bring crappy clothes with you and get rid of them before the return flight.

I got it to work for: YVR-HND-BKK-NRT-LAX - $568 CA$ (Fall Dates)
It's cheaper to start out in YVR because there's less taxes to get home.
For my reposition flights on award tickets:
YVR-LAX cost $60 in taxes
LAX-YVR cost $5 in taxes
