FYI it's not just YUL. All Canadian cities work with this fare YYZ YEG YYC YVR. You can forced the connection in LAX by using google flights multi city. I was able to book lax bkk lax yyz for $396 early December. Also I booked the last flight out of LAX to Canada so that I can meet my business partner before I fly out to Canada. If there's IRROP I will insist on going to LA as I have to see my business partner. No need to do a stopover in LA for extra $100. Just saying.

Does any one know if ANA requires you to claim your luggages in LAX even if your connecting flight goes straight to Toronto? Thanks!

The answer hasn't changed since you asked the same question a few posts ago, and was answered for you.

Hello, Whimike:

Who answered it? Glad that I got your attention!

I asked if any one has ACTUAL luggage claim experience with NH for I:I transfer at LAX for connecting to Toronto. I don't believe that I received any response for that :-(.

BTW, I have "accidentally" missed my LAX connection many times for domestic connections but that was not my question. BTW, TK very much for reading.

It was answered. And yes regardless of your final destination, all bags must be cleared and claim at the first port of entry. Regardless whether it's NH JL UA AA CX etc. you go through customs then proceed to the recheck area or just keep walking and exit.

For everyone's benefit, this is what the ANA website says:
"When making a connection through the U.S. or other cities, you may be required to pick up and check in your baggage again.
(However, you may not be required to pick up your baggage and check in again in Houston.)
It may differ depending on the city, please check at airport on the departure day."

The way I read it - the general "first port of entry" rule may or may-not be applicable any more. So, does any one have any recent LAX experience for luggage handling for a I:I transfer to Canada? Thank you! And thank you for reading and sharing your ACTUAL experience for this specific question.

Are there consequences if you skip the last leg of the flight? Is it likely you would lose your miles?

I missed my LAX connections many times but always received mileage credits for the flights that I flew. YMMV.

why would anyone want to book these fares on United.com?!? to my understanding, these fares will earn 50% RDM United miles if booked via ANA, but if booked on united.com, it will be revenue based (ie: pathetic).

PQM sometimes is more important than RDM for some people.

You mean PQD; PQM would obviously be the same irrespective of where you booked.

Oh, thanks for the insight! I didn't know that I would get 100% PQM with the United MP program by buying this K fare from NH. Thanks!

These NH issued K fares if credited to UA pay only 25% RDM + elite bonus.
A UA 1K can earn 50% RDM and 100% EQM,no PQD.
Also no credit towards MM status

If issued on UA one would earn much less RDM depending on status and BF, but would earn EQM and PDQ.
