Thanks that is what I assumed so now I need to book her a ticket with me back from there too and just ask my wife to fly solo and enjoy her trip

Thanks to the OP. I booked LAX-LHR for 7/29 until 8/10 for $1216 on AA metal (with BA flight numbers), in business class.

Note i used the AARP discount but don't have the BA Chase card which would have brought the price under $1100 !!!

well i took the opportunity to book a ticket for my wife to join me on an upcoming business trip that I had ticketed on the earlier sale. $1700 SMF-LHR via SEA on DL, departing on a Friday and returning on a Monday. not too bad, i paid $1850 for my own ticket on the past sale.

Its worth mentioning that you can use Avios at a shockingly great rate to knock the price down far further. You'll get better than 2.5 cents per point. Using 30,000 Avios (can be created from Chase or AMex) will knock $766 off. We booked JFK>LCY, returning from heathrow for $646 using AARP and the 30,000 avios off promo. True story. Even 15,000 avios gets 383 off the price. Unbeatable.

Great way to fly AA 773s!
I am wondering, if * / UA will match?

How are people getting the AARP site to work? Persistence? I've tried three different browsers many, many times and cannot get past the "verify membership" button that appears after selecting the BA offer.

just had no problem using chrome to get in. Seeemed slow to verify and held up for about 30 seconds and then redirected. Anyone else done what we did and applied Avios to knock it down? I just got it down to $454 cash using 30,000 Avios to cover $766. Still earns full TP and miles plus the Transatlantic bonus from BA or AA.

I got it to work with the AARP discount and the avios, but for some reason the mastercard discount got kicked out.
