Price/convenience versus possibly more miles
 

OK, I have never done a MR.

I am looking at a quick TPA-DCA where I have time to spare in my actual travel time. As long as I am in town for the next day, I can leave a day early and allow myself time.

I see:

Jetblue $59.00 Non stop, no challenges. 2:10 in travel time.

United $67.00. Plane change in CLE. 5:33 in travel time. In the WINTER.

What do I get from UA for this? Actual mileage of 1237 miles or 500 miles on the OW?

Yes to getting at least 12xx miles - of course, if you're an Elite, you'll get even more.

Of course, this is assuming your flight is prior to March 1.

It's a bit early in the year for MR, what is your main airline and what does 2015 looks for your flying pattern. Keep in mind that with UA! they have added price of ticket/fare to its elite status qualifying requirement.
