Cheapest way to route from Europe to Australia via US?

Hey guys, help me out here. I am trying to find a cheap way of getting from Europe (ideally ZRH) to Australia via JFK, YVR, SFO then HNL and onto Australia around May 2015.

All cheaper flights seem to go the other way through SIN or DXB. Its quite a challenge to find a good deal going the other way with stops in the US!

Would also consider stops on the way in New Zealand or Asia after HNL.

Any ideas?

Best I can do so far is ZRH to (via KEF) JFK to SFO for $688 with FI and JQ which isn't too bad. Can't seem to find a route from LAX or SFO to BNE with a stop in HNL.... as soon as I add anything from LAX or SFO it shoots up to $4000+

As soon as you add stopovers and other cities you going away from the main USA Australia routes
Look for returns to your secondary cities from main gateways of LAX & SFO
Both the One World Alliance & Star Alliance both have round the world products

Airlines that fly USA/Canada to Australia (most from LAX) are
- United [Star Alliance] (LAX SFO - SYD MEL)
- Qantas [OneWorld Alliance] (AS partner) (LAX JFK DFW - SYD MEL BNE)
- Jetstar (from HNL)
- Delta [Skyteam Alliance] (VA & AS partner)
- Virgin Australia (DL partner)
- Hawaiian, via Hawaii (AA DL & VA partner)
- Air NZ, via AKL [Star Alliance]
- Fiji Airways, via Fiji (AA & AS partner)
- Air Tahiti Nui (last segments on codeshares) (AA & DL partner)
- Air Canada [Star Alliance]
And others via Asia & Middle East

A real travel agent may be able to find something

Is this for a mileage run? Mileage run deals are never where you want to go on days you want to go. This smells like a fare request. Looking at your previous posts this trip is you moving to Australia. If that's the case you should consult with a travel agent.
