Need 7K from MSP.
 

So I've decided to go for it. I need 7K and can travel midweek. I'd really love to do it all in one day if possible. Cost is a factor, of course

What say the sages of FT?

What airline? Do you know exactly how many miles you need? Are there any days that you can't travel or any other restrictions?

If you can piece together two or three short trips, it probably will be cheaper. For example
MSP-MCO is $215 on the 22nd, 2629 miles.
MSP-PHX is $272 on the 17th, 2548 miles.
MSP-ABQ is $339 on the 24th, 1858 miles.

Alternately, MSP-HNL is $866 out 13th return 14th, plenty of miles.
